A very good morning to honorable judges, time keeper, teachers and my fellow friends.

Today I am going to present a speech based on water pollution. Ladies and gentlemen, Water pollution is increasingly becoming a large problem. Water pollution has been seriously affecting the life of humans, plants as well as animals. The eco system of rivers, streams, lakes, seas and oceans is also getting deteriorated due to the contamination of water, through various sources. Ladies and gentleman, What are the causes of water pollution! This "uestion has no simple answer. Water pollution can be defined as anything humans do to cause harmful effects. The major causes of water pollution are organic pollution, agricultural pollution, runoff, to#ic waste, and thermal pollution. $rganic pollution is becoming more and more pressing on the environment, because of the growing population of the world. It%s a simple concept, the more people there are in one area, the more waste they will produce. The cause for the contamination of water is the improper disposal of human and animal wastes. &eside that, the important sources of water pollution are domestic wastes, industrial effluents and agricultural wastes. These heavy metals accumulate in fish and make them harmful to anything that eats them and to the fish itself. Water is a necessity of life and it needs to be conserved and protected. Among these, domestic waste and industrial waste are the most important sources contributing to water pollution. 'y fellow friends, The effects of water pollution are numerous. (ome water pollution effects are recogni)ed immediately, whereas others don*t show up for months or years. +irst, effect is diseases can spread via polluted water. Infectious diseases such as typhoid and cholera can be contracted from drinking contaminated water. This is called microbial water pollution. The human heart and kidneys can be adversely affected if polluted water is consumed regularly. $ther health problems associated with polluted water are poor blood circulation, skin lesions, vomiting, and damage to the nervous system. In fact, the effects of water pollution are said to be the leading cause of death for humans across the globe. It also harms animals like birds that get into oil contaminated water die from e#posure to cold water and air due to feather damage. $ther animals are affected when they eat dead fish in contaminated streams. 'arine life becomes deteriorated due to water

pollution. Lethal killing of fish and a"uatic plants in rivers, oceans and seas is an aftereffect of water contamination only. It can cause the food chain damaged. +looding also one of the major effect by water pollution. The erosion of soil into waterways causes flooding, especially with heavy rainfall. Ladies and gentlemen, Water remains one of our primary resources, vital to our survival on ,arth, yet water pollution is happening. -ow can we avoid and possibly stop it! +irst we must dispose waste material properly. .aily household rubbish can be buried or thrown away neatly in plastic bags, to be sent to special rubbish collecting areas. &eside that, Industrial wastes should be treated before disposal, to make sure the substances are harmless. The ne#t step is stuff like glass, paper/ plastic and metal can be recycled. Industrial wastes are the main cause of water pollution. They often dump all these wastes in to near by lakes or rivers. (o government must pass strict orders not to dump wastes in to rivers. They must be provided with other options like treatment of those wastes before dumping. Ladies and gentleman, As summary I would like to say that, finding ways to implement water pollution solutions are the only hope to stem the effects of water pollution on natural resources. It*s all in our hand. We must play our role and responsible to protect our environment from pollution.

Thank you.
