Career & Technology Center

Fall/Winter I Issue 2013/14

Paul R. Balint Administrative Director

Welcome... From the Administrative Director

Say thanks to Forbes Road CTC school board members!
Career and Technical education is more than just learning technical skills and the academics that are integrated into career and technical education; its a platform for students to reach their potential. It inspires hope for a new generation and a successful future. This institution exists in part because individuals volunteer their time to make informed decisions about the issues facing career and technical education. Every January we celebrate these everyday heroes - the nine appointed school board members (also known as the Joint Operating Committee) who serve our students and educational system. They are: Annetta Jursa from Allegheny Valley, Frank Pearsol from East Allegheny, Dave Magill (President) from Gateway, Carrie Fox from Highlands, John Zacchia from Penn Hills, John St. Leger from Plum Borough, Arlene Loeffler (Treasurer) from Riverview, Tiffany Lumpkin from Wilkinsburg and Robert Tomasic (Vice President) from Woodland Hills. School Directors volunteer, on average, 20 hours a month to help run the schools in our community. The school board makes difficult decisions for the betterment of our students. They vote on the Forbes budgets, hire staff, select equipment, textbooks and supplies, and review curriculum, to name a few. Programs Offered: These dedicated volunteers reside in our community within our nine sending districts. They are our friends, neighbors, community leaders, parents at your school and engaged senior citizens. During this month of recognition we ask of you, the school directors fellow community members, to show your appreciation for their service. Please show your gratitude in some way for their time, effort, and dedication to career & technical educations advancement. Thank them for advocating on behalf of our collective interests and making the difficult decisions. Most importantly, thank them for being everyday heroes and making our students success their priority.
