In Local News

Today, justice is served. After being arrested for a fatal shooting in 2011 of a Plainfield man, Nelson Santos Betance members of a street gang were each sentenced to 15 years in prison, today. Betance sat in his car on West Third Street and Monroe Avenue in Plainfield as the two members, Jordan Camacho and Laquan Chandler, decided to fire shots at people outside a store. They pleaded guilty last November and both will serve 15 years in prison and will not be eligible for parole until they serve 12 yeas and nine months of their sentence.

Attack ends with arrests. Three men, Keywon Savage and Jesse Ward, 18 of Irvington, and Kawuan Nickles, 22, of Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania led Union Township Police on a car chase down 1 1 1

Route 22, on Wednesday night, after they attacked a Union man who was shoveling snow in the driveway of his home. The three men were arrested and taken in custody. The victim was taken to Union Hospital for injuries he received to the face. Bail was set at $100,00 for each of them for robbery, resisting arrest and eluding police and other motor vehicle violations.

Attack at Native American tribal office in California. In Northern California, near the Oregon border, a woman has opened fire at a Native American tribal office and four people were killed two others critically wounded. Sherie Lash, former tribal leader, was arrested on charges of murder and attempted murder. Lash attacked during an eviction hearing that involved her. On the scene, the police found two semi-automatic handguns at the scene.

Ahead of her Time At three years old, an Arizona girl, Alexis Martin has been accepted into an exclusive global society known as Mensa. Martin is now the youngest member in the Arizona chapter and she is reading at fifth-grade level and taught herself using her parents IPad. She has qualified to become a member of Mensa by taking a standardized intelligent test and scoring among the top two percent of the general population. There are 3,300 Mensa members including Alexis Martin, under the age of 18 in the 2 2 2

In International News

Military plane crashes. A military plane that was carrying medical patients has crashed near Tunisias capital early Friday morning, killing 11 people which included an Islamic official in Libyas government and ten other passengers and crew. Libyans often travel to Tunisia for medical treatment and this was the second crash involving a military plan in North Africa.

Ukraine sign treaty. Aiming to resolve a political crisis which has landed dozens being killed, Ukraines opposition leaders have signed a EU-mediated peace deal with President Viktor Yanukovich. This treaty is to resolve the political crisis and also open the way for an early presidential election this year. Originally the election vote was due in March 2015 but with this treaty, it will be earlier but there has been no date set as of now. More news, sports, and weather coming up

In Sports

Canada beats Mens and Womens Hockey. In the past 24 hours, Canada has broken two hearts in the sports world which both belong to U.S. hockey, both the womens and the mens. Yesterday, Canadas womens hockey team was down 2-0 with three minutes left but ended up making a come back and winning in overtime 3-2 and taking the gold leaving the silver to the U.S. team. The next day, the men were going up against each other for the semifinals and once again, another close game leads Canada going against Sweden for the gold and the U.S. to go against Finland for the bronze.

Derek Jeters final Spring training. After announce his retirement, it was time to get back in the game and start his goal for another championship win which will be his final. On Thursday, it was Jeters final, first workout with the team in Spring Training. As he reached the field, there were 1,338 fans who stood up and gave him a standing ovation. After warmups, Jeter flipped a ball into the stands and then after taking some batting practice, he threw up one of his batting gloves. Jeter is returning from an injury and manager Joe Girardi says that he looks better than ever before and it looks like he was never injured. Its the beginning of the final season with as many know The Captain.

Olympic Prank There is a viral video of a Russian wolf roaming the hallways of the Olympic Village but it is not a real wolf. It was one of Jimmy Kimmels new pranks and he asked Olympian Kate Hansen to help with his prank. This is the not the first time Kimmel has pranked us and it certainly wont be the last. Jimmy Kimmel admitted the prank on his Jimmy Kimmel Live! show on Thursday night.
