PROPOSAL FOR ENGLISH WEEK PROGRAMME WITH UniKL STUDENTS 2013 4TH SEPTEMBER 9TH SEPTEMBER 2013

PURPOSE

The purpose of this paper is to seek approval from UniKL MICET Management for the proposed English week programme for UniKL MICET students. The programme is scheduled from 4th September until 9th September, 2013.

2. 2.1

BACKGROUND English Week program is not an alien program in UniKL MICET. The university

is scheduled of organizing such event at least once a year. This program is planned for all UniKL MICET students ranging from its Diploma to Bachelor students. It is hoped that the program will help the students to increase their self-esteem in using English language in their learning activities as well as their daily life. 2.2 Many activities will be conducted throughout this week and the main aim of these

activities are to train the students to be more disciplined, learn to work well in group and promote good leadership skill eventually. It is expected that the students will be able to change their perspective that learning English is not such a tedious journey through the challenging yet interesting activities that will be carried out. 3. OBJECTIVES

The objectives of the program are:

To produce students with good command of English language since it is the main medium of interaction in UniKL MICET. To increase the students self-confidence in the usage of this second language inside and outside the classroom.

To embed interest among UniKL MICET students to English language through easy yet appealing ways.

To cultivate positive values among the students via the activities that will be carried out in this program.

4. 4.1

JUSTIFICATION After a thorough discussion with Students Development and Campus Lifestyle section, it is found out that the said program should be carried out every semester since the use of English language is very essential among the students. It is through such program that the students are able to enhance their skills in speaking and reading; only to be named a few.

4.2

Students must not only practice what they learn in English classes during their learning sessions but also in every conversation regardless place and time. A consistent use of English language will ensure them to inculcate essentials skills needed. Through this programme, students will be exposed to the true value of English language and how fun it is.
