I. INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background
Pertamina is the Indonesias oil and gas company. As the nations company,
Pertamina effort to give both of best and real contribution for the prosperous nation in
utilizes every potentials Indonesias. One of the efforts that Pertamina doing is increase
the number of his vessels.
For this aim, PT. Samudra Indonesia has been awarded to build Tanker 10000 DWT
with 12 knots speed of service. This Tanker will use to load crude oil from Cilacap to
Samarinda.
Relation with this objective, by Ship Design 1 st lesson we aid PT. Samudra Indonesia
to determine the main ship dimension that needed by Pertamina.

1.2 The Scope of Work

In order to achieve the objective, the scope of work is presented as bellows:
1) Look for the main dimension of the ship comparison data.
2) Analyze the comparison data.
3) Determine the main dimension of the ship.
4) Make a report.

1.3 Methodology
1.2.1 Look For The Main Dimension Of The Ship Comparison Data.
To get the main dimension of the ship, it is necessary to do the calculations on
the main dimension of the ship. First, we were looking for the data of ships main
dimension that have been there with the type of ship and large payload approaching
and in accordance with the owner requirements. The steps we to look for the ship
comparative data are presented bellows:

Look for a website by typing the address register ships www.e-ship.net.. Next
will appear as shown below:
3

Figure 1 Front Page of www.e-ship.net

From some of the empty box on the website, filled with some of the
specifications required like: ship type, class, deadweight from, and built from.
As in the image below:

Figure 2 Ships Search Page

After that press "find", and then will appear the some data comparison of the
ship of the specifications in accordance with demand. As shown below:

Figure 3 Some Data Comparison of Ship from The Web Page

Press the link details, then copy IMO number as shown below:

Figure 4 Ship Data with IMO Number

The figure above is the comparison of a number of ships on a ship

classification by the German firm, the Germanischer Lloyd. To determine the
main dimension of the ship data and its specifications, then typed GL's official
address register is http://www.gl-group.com/register/index.jsp, then it will
appear as shown below:

Figure 5 Ship Classification Page (Example: Germanischer Lloyd)

Further fill in the box "IMO-No" from the names of ships that have been
acquired over the previous, then the next image will appear as below:

Figure 6 Register Online Page

From Figure 3 to 6 above, then we will get the data from the ship's main
dimension of comparison.

Repeat the steps above to get a comparable ship data by a different class.

Under take the same steps to get 25 ships data comparison.

1.2.2 Analyze The Comparison Data.

Determining the main dimension of the ship conducted by the method of
"Trend Curve Approach" is the main dimension of the ship determination by
the statistical analysis of the data by looking for comparable ships correlation
between existing ships with the ship to be designed. Completions of the two
methods are aided by the form of the Microsoft Excel program. This is because
the software is designed specifically for the completion of statistical analysis. So
the method of "Trend Curve Approach" suitable resolved by Microsoft Excel.
In Microsoft Excel Solver menu where there is a facility to complete statistical
analysis properly, concept analysis of statistical data for the selection of the
7

main dimension of the ship that used is linear regression. The purpose of using
a linear regression is: make estimates and average value based on the variable
depends on the independent variables, testing hypotheses characteristic of
dependency, to predict the average value of the independent variable based on
the value of the free variable outside the scope samples.

1.2.3 Determine The Main Dimension of The Ship.

After analyzing the data comparable ships with statistical data analysis method
of linear regression, it can be determined the main dimension of the ship according
to owner requirements.

1.2.4 Make A Report.

The final step that must be done is to create a technical report in accordance
with the data generated.

II. SUMMARY AND CONCLUTION

Ships that needed by Pertamina with size 10000 DWT and 12 knots service speed,
made by PT. Samudera Indonesia as the winning bidder with a ship's main dimensions are as
follows:
LPP = 114.9 m
B = 20.1 m
H = 11.4 m
T = 7.6 m
The ships main dimension above got from the ship comparison data, were then performed
the statistical analysis of the data by linear regression.
