01 Step 1: Ad-hoc network setups are a form of Mesh network topology Step 2: The rest stops will most likely be equipped with an intelligent device to broadcast a wireless point-to-multipoint network topology. This would be better than mesh for a public location. Step 3: The question states that there is an equal number of patch panels and switches, so this setup sounds like a star-bus hybrid, as there are a large number of workstations per patch panel, but each patch panel goes to its own switch, so there is only 1 connection per switch. Step 4: For home networks, Star topology seems to be the most common wired and Point-to-Multipoint the most common wireless. Star-bus hybrid topology is most prevalent in buisinesses. Step 5: Physical topology is what the network topology looks like. With a star-bus hybrid, it simply looks like a star network. The logical topology is how the network actually functions. Inside the central point of the star-bus hybrid that simply looks like a switch/hub, is actually a bus segment. LAB 3.02 Step 1: Building codes for most areas require the use of plenum cabling. Risers are an optional cable used to travel between floors, however; plenum is recommended (at a cost) for all cabling. For future-proofing, CAT 6 (maybe 6a) should be implemented, that is if it meets the budget. Step 2: CAT 5e, solid core PVC - $144.99 CAT 6, solid core PVC - $209.99 CAT 5e, Plenum-grade - $349.99 CAT 6, Plenum-grade - $529.99

12,000ft. of CAT 6 Plenum (MI tax) comes to ~ $6741.47 12,000ft. of CAT 5e Plenum (MI tax) comes to ~ $4451.87

Andrew Konen Step 3: The backbone should be a 10 gigabit for of fiber-optic cabling minimum, such as 10GBaseSR. For future improvements were going to go with 100GBase-LR4. Step 4: $196.04, $200, $370 The total for cable is approx. $7140 for the single mode fiber and CAT 6 Plenum. Step 5: CAT Rating CAT 3 CAT 5e CAT 6 Max Frequency 16 MHz 100 MHz 250 MHz Max Bandwidth 16 Mbps 1000 Mbps 10000 Mbps

Step 6: IF it is within the budget, then CAT 6 UTP would be recommended for superior performance. LAB 3.03 Step 1: ISO was formed in 1947 and have been developing international standards since then. These standards range from Health Services and food safety to computer technology. ISO is a collaboration of many officials based out of Geneva, Switzerland. Step 2: ANSI was formed in 1918 to enhance competitive business and facilitating consensus standards. Currently has 90+ members. Comprised of members from multiple government agencies. Step 3: Members of TIA are comprised of Washington D.C. TIA staff, members of associate companies. Founded in 1988 Step 4: IEEE is the largest organization for advancing technology and is set up for Innovation and excellence of humanity. Has a very limited number of staff.

Step2: Compliance with IEEE standards help regulate components, services, and technologies to maintain functionality and compatibility with new/old developments.
