Student in the Spotlight

Lions Club Student of the Month
Each month we recognize a Lions Club Student of the Month. The student must be a senior, role model for others and someone that has contributed to the high school in a variety of ways. We attempt to select students that are not usually recognized and since we are allowed only eight seniors per year, it is imperative that we select confident, creditable ambassadors.

Congratulations Krystin!

Krystin Verran was our March Lion's Club Student of the Month!

Eyeglasses Needed!
Cub Scout Pack 657 (on behalf of the Lions Club of Grand Ledge) is collecting used eyeglasses. These are checked and sanitized and given to those in need. A collection bucket is available in the Main Office from Feb 11th through the end of the month.

Honor Captain Greg Fenton

This past week, it was such an amazing honor to receive a flag at Grand Ledge High School from Captain Greg Fenton, Commanding Officer, GLHS Class of 1982. Capt Fenton flew this flag from the mast of his ship, the USS George Washington, as they crossed the equator south bound for Australia. "Let [this flag] serve as a reminder that there are many things in your future, and with drive and dedication, you can accomplish all of them." GLPS Spring Food Drive
During the week of March 24-28, the 3rd Annual GLPS Spring Food Drive returns to Grand Ledge High School. Last year, over $2500 was raised in cash and gift cards and 6000 pounds of food for the Grand Ledge Food Bank, and GLEAP (Grand Ledge Emergency Assistance Program). This supplies them for approximately 3 months. This year, we are joined by Hayes Middle School, Beagle Elementary, Neff Kindergarten, Wacousta Elementary, Delta Center Elementary, St. Michael School and the G.L. Baptist Church. During that week we will be asking/encouraging students to bring in a different food item each day, items that are priorities for the G.L. Food Bank. We are hosting this event in March because this is the time of year when the Food Bank starts to run bare. Please drop off all donations in the lobby of Grand Ledge High School. If you have any questions, suggestions, or are willing to help, contact Food Drive Coordinator Jeffrey Belding at beldingj@glcomets.net. Monday, Mar 24: Toiletries (Toilet Paper, Feminine Hygiene Products, Diapers, Mens and Womens disposable razors) Tuesday, Mar 25: Protein (Peanut Butter, canned meat and fish) Wednesday, Mar. 26: Cash, Check (make out to GLEAP), or gift card to a local food business (fast food, or Meijer, Horrocks, etc.) Thursday, Mar. 27: Pasta and Rice (and sauce, beans, etc.) Friday, Mar. 28: Raid the Pantry (everything else) For more information go to facebook.com/feedgl, or facebook.com/gleap.net
