Teaching & Learning Activities

1. Teacher shows a video about
germination of seed.
2. Teacher asks student where the
shoot and root of the seed grew as
shown as the video.
3. Teacher asks student to predict the
sunlight pathway.
4. From the students answer, teacher
will relate the role and effect of
hormones in plants growth.

Evaluation

1. Teacher divides students into two

groups.
2. Teacher asks each student write their
group name in a paper, first group is
POWER SHOOT and second group
is POWER ROOT.
3. Teacher gives instruction to students
to play as an auxin and know their
roles.
4. Teacher gives instruction to the
group leader to write another word
LIGHT ON, LIGHT OFF,
GEOTROPISM UP and
GEOTROPISM SIT.
5. The group leader will show the sign
and student will response according
to their types of auxin.

1. Auxin plays an important role and

give effects in plant growth
ecspecially at the coleoptile and root.

SCRIPTING
Assalammualaikum and good morning, class. I hope you are ready to see an
interesting video with me today. After you have seen this video, I will ask you
three simple questions.
You have seen a germination process of a seed plant just now.
My first question is where does the shoot of seed go?
My second question is where does the root of seed go?
Lastly, can you predict where does the sunlight direction come from?
For your information, growth of the seed is depends on plant hormones. The
most important hormone for plant is auxin.
There are lots of quantities of auxin hormone at the coleptiles as you can see in
the picure. Can you spot the difference of these two pictures?
Now, we need to know how auxin hormones work.
You can see here three coleoptiles in three different conditions.
First, without the tip of coleoptile,
second we cut the tip of coleoptil and then we put it back on top of the coleoptile
and;
the last one is we cut the tip and put gelatin between the tip and shoot.
Can you predict which of this coleoptile will growth as usually?
So, coleoptile can grow with the help of the tip that has many auxin hormones.
Let us start our learning about the role of auxins in phototropism phenomenon.
The story of phototropism phenomenon starts with an experiment by Charles
Darwin.
Now, please pay attention to the next animation of the Charles Darwin
experiment.
By using the same experiment of Darwin, we can know how phototropism
phenomenon happened. You can observe what happened to the auxin population
in the coleoptile and root by using the next animation.
