She lit a fire with some straw and a piece of it fell to the floor. 2. Then she emptied the beans into the cooking pot. Plop! One dropped onto the ground beside the straw. A burning coal leapt down from the fire to join them with a crackle! 3. The straw, the bean and the coal congratulated themselves on escaping the fire which would have destroyed them. 4. They ran through the open door and didnt stop until they reached a little brook. But there was no bridge over water, so the straw lay across the brook and invited the others to cross. 5. The coal leapt at first, but half way over he got scared and couldnt move. As he was still hot from fire, he burned through the straw and they both fell into water with a hiss! 6. Hahaha! the bean laughed so hard that she split in two, and that would have been the end of her too, if it wasnt for a tailor who happened to be passing. 7. The tailor kindly sewed the bean back together again. And that is why, to this very day, some beans have a black seam!
