HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH PRAYER DIARY SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE TIMES 8:00, 9:00 & 11:00A.M.

MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER Chronological Bible Reading: Deuteronomy 1-3; Mark 7 Monday, March 3 Eccl. 1:7 All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again. Heavenly Father and Holy Redeemer: Everything under the sun is on the move. Time does not stop and rest. This planet is a spinning ball. The sun itself is a star in orbit. Tides move the sea, winds stir the air, friction wears the rocks; changes and death rule all. By one force water flows into the seas, by another force water is lifted out. Men and women are born to die, but everything is in a hurry, worry, and frustration of spirit to get there. Unchanging Jesus, be my friend in the midst of all this frustration! Be my resource. When the water is low, pour out more of your grace. I seek an eternal city beyond the changing skies. And be the friend of my neighbors, __________ and __________, to draw them to your self. The ocean of your love is a great receiver, but also a generous distributor. What love I bring to you, you return in the form of blessing, and I give thanks. Love for Jesus is never un-repaid; it is always returned from the Father. Many of my friends are out of sync with the universe. They take all, but they never return. Everything is for them, and there is nothing sown as seed. Am I giving to you according to the benefit I have received? Do I tithe? How do I serve? Much has been planted in me, now what is my fruit? To be selfish is to be sinful. So Lord, free me from that! Help me not live unto myself today, but be on the lookout for how I can serve others (especially those who need to know the gospel). All fullness dwells in you Jesus, and of your fullness I have received. Give me your Spirit so I might not live unto myself. Please Sir, for Jesus sake do it. Amen. TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS CROSS Chronological Bible Reading: Deuteronomy 4-6; Mark 8 Tuesday, March 4 Luke 23:27 And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him. Suffering Savior: With a cruel mercy they laid hold on Simonan African, who apparently expressed too loudly his sympathy or his dismayand forced him to help carry your cross. There was a mingled majesty and meekness on your own scarred face and blood-soaked back, a loveliness and lowliness, a sacredness and sorrow. The world would need to be my canvas to paint the scene, because Isa. 52:14 As many were astonied at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men: Jesus, did I see the marks of cruelty on you? You were scourged; anyone could see that. Your own clothes were put back on you, so they could not conceal the evidence. Traces of the thorny crown were still up there on your brow. Rough treatment by Roman legionnaires also left their mark. Selah. There were some cruelly glad faces, delighted to see how you were now in their power. Then there were unfeeling Roman faces, to whom Jewish life was almost worthless. But there were someand it is an honor to their gender some women who entered their protest by their crying and by their tears. Not silently did their sorrow weep. They started to wail like they were experiencing the death of their most beloved child. The voice of a woman has a power with most of us, but not with the stony hearts of the legionaries. I wonder, have I used my imagination for holy purposes? Have I seen this scene and wept? Does my heart bow in awe of you, Son of God, my Savior, for what you endured for my sake? Oh, Holy Spirit, take away my hard heart and cold emotions, and give me love to Jesus even more today. Amen. FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY Chronological Bible Reading: Deuteronomy 13-15; Mark 10:1-26 Friday, March 7 Psa. 5:3 My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up. My LORD in the Morning: Since we are slaves to sin, look on us with great grace. Break our shackles! There are some of us in the church who are as yet, Acts 8:23 in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity. That is sin, so move your Spirit over our congregation! Capture those who do not yet know Christ! Make this be an edifying, soul-winning year. Keep saving souls every week in the ministries of our church, our missionaries, and fellowship of churches. Wherever Jesus Christ is lifted up, he has promised, John 12:32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. May a great crowd look to him and get light, showing the way out of spiritual darkness. Look on us for good. You know the trouble of every burdened heart in our congregation. You know how we sometimes have to say, John 11:3 Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick. We have members who have attended a deathwatch over a dear loved one who was fading from this life. Lord, send comfort to all the saints in sorrow. Grant us grace to bear whatever your will righteously puts on us, and willingness to bear it without murmuring against your providence. If our job is misfiring, if things are cutting cross-grain to the desires of our heart, may we know it is your will, and be joyful to surrender to your will. No Lord, more than that. May we take a delight in being stripped if it is God who strips us. If you must use the chisel on these living stones, be certain and be sure to square us (despite our squirming) with the Living Stone, Jesus Christ. Separate us from the old rock, set us free from the pit, and build us upon Jesus Christ forever. Amen. WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING Chronological Bible Reading: Deuteronomy 7-9; Mark 9:1-25 Wednesday, March 5 Hab. 3:2 O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy. Mighty God and Merciful Father: If I am not willing to hear your word I cannot expect you to hear my voice. Let my preparation for prayer be an attentive hearkening to what you say to me, and then an obedient application of your commands. You speak to me constantly by the BIBLE. I repent of being so deaf to its teachings by being so lazy to read it. While I do not despise your words, yet I too often forget your Word, and go off and listen to the follies of my friends for counsel. Let me hear the wisdom of inspiration by your revelation. You speak to me periodically by PROVIDENCE. Providence is your divine intervention, controlling things I cannot control. Some providences are afflicting and some are comforting, but all of them have a voice. Yet Lord, oftentimes it goes unheard because I wasnt consciously looking for you in my circumstances. My focus was only on myself. I am ashamed. You speak to me mystically by the HOLY SPIRIT. As you call today, let me listen; as you move, let me not refuse. Acceptance is the reaction I want the lost to have as you call them to be saved! Help me mirror that in my own life. I have ears to hear; let me not grieve the Spirit by neglecting his admonitions. Open my spiritual ear to hear your still, small voice when others perceive neither sound nor speech. Keep me under the influence of your Spirit today to hold close communion with you. Make my heart like wax to your seal, receiving the impression of your mind, because then I will have power to convey Gods word to others. And then, O LORD, revive thy work, even in the mid-life of our winter. Do it for Jesus sake. Amen. SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS Chronological Bible Reading: Deuteronomy 16-18 ; Mark 10:27-52 Saturday, March 8 Psa. 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. Father, Shepherd, Master, King: What condescension is this, that the infinite Lord has become my Shepherd! Having been a shepherd himself, David well understood the needs and cares of sheep. Lord, I am just like them: weak, defenseless and foolish. I take you today to be my Provider, Preserver and Directorindeed, my everything. I want to use prayer to cultivate a spirit of complete dependence on you. If he is a shepherd to no one else in the world, make Jesus the shepherd to me. I may not have all I want, but I shall not want. I long for more of him! Psa. 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Help me walk through a steady progress in spiritual growth. You know the direction, and I have decided to follow the road. You know the destination so I feel quite safe. I dont want to walk in the valley today, but through it. There may be shadows, but that only means light is somewhere, or else the shadow would not be cast. Evil may stand by the side of the road, but I rejoice there is a light beyond. The shadow of a dog cannot bite me; the shadow of a sword cannot kill me. Let me not be afraid of a shadow; it should not stop me for a second. Dont let me doubt in the dark what you have revealed to me in your light! Psa. 23:5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. You give me more than enough in a cup that overflows. But my cup cannot run over my discontent, so help me remove it. Goodness supplies my needs and mercy blots out my sins. Hallelujah! Contentment is more than a kingdom; it is my happiness in Christ. Give me more of him this weekend! Amen.

A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING Chronological Bible Reading: Deuteronomy 10-12; Mark 9:26-50 Thursday, March 6 1 John 3:18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

HAST Thou, O Lord, a work to do? Here am I, send me!

The field is white, the labrers few, here am I, send me! O touch my lips with fire divine, here am I, send me! The dross consume, the gold refine, here am I, send me! A lowly vessel at Thy feet, here am I, send me! O cleanse and for Thy use make meet, here am I, send me! My heart now longs and yearns to go, here am I, send me! To reap Thy harvest here below, here am I, send me! Over mountain, plain or sea, Here am I, send me! Ill go to the ends of the earth for Thee, Here am I, send me! J. Gilchrist Lawson, 1910

PRAYER DIARY

TIMEWORSHIP Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

" INTERCEDE WITH GOD " INSTRUCT SAINTS " PROMPT PETITIONS " KICKSTART DEVOTION

GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily devotions. 2) TITHEWORK 1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our resources. 3) TEAMWORD Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the same things over and over. This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you through the Bible chronologically in a year. Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying. Alan

QUALITY CHRISTIANITY INVOLVES THREE THINGS

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had prayed. Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition. God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son. Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
