February 14, 2014 Dear Sir/Madam: The Philippine Group of Law Librarians (PGLL) is pleased to invite you to its Seminar-Workshop on "Developing Competencies in Library Automation and Preservation" to be held on May 14-16, 2014 at the Hotel Veniz, One Abanao St., Baguio City. Librarians and information professionals must be prepared in safeguarding its precious collections from termites and typhoons such as Yolanda. Librarians must also be aware on how the latest technology will be of assistance and at the same time organize the collection for efficient service. The objectives of this seminar are: to equip participants with the knowledge on how to assess and prioritize their collection; to experience hands on book preservation; to know what possible crisis to f ace and the tools Project NOAH may provide to help prevent and mitigate disasters ; to know the available digital and/or online legal collection and resources in the Philippines and the United States; and to know the available library management systems which a librarian may choose for their own libraries. This seminar workshop is open to all librarians, information managers/professionals, researchers, teachers, LGUs, employees/office staff, barangay officials and students who recognize the need to be aware of ways on how to preserve, conserve and restore our much needed collections, use electronic applications to organize them for better service. Seminar fee are as follows: P5,800. 00 (Live-In); P5,500. 00 (Live-Out; Early Bird, Accompanying Person) and P5,600 (PGLL member).
