Ciscos industry leading CCNA Certication program has always been the accreditation of choice for engineers beginning their networking career. Networks however are continuing to grow in complexity, driving a need for engineers skilled in specic job-role focused technology areas. This evolution has been recognised in this latest update to the CCNA Certication Program.

Summary of Changes
The current CCNA Certication has been renamed to CCNA Routing and Switching. The ICND1, ICND2 and CCNABC/CCNAX Courses and Exams have been updated to v2.0. The existing exams will go end-of-life on the 30th of September 2013. ICND2 is no longer a requirement for CCNA Wireless, CCNA Voice and CCNA Security. ICND1 will become a requirement for CCDA Certication effective 1st of October 2013.

What is CCNA Routing and Switching and how is it different to CCNA?

CCNA Routing and Switching is the same certication as CCNA, however the curriculum and exams have been redesigned to align with changing job roles and technology advancements in routing and switching. CCNA Routing and Switching hones your ability to perform critical new job tasks including how to: Manage the latest IOS software running on the newest Cisco routers and switches Congure and manage IPv6 addressing Manage IOS Licensing Perform more comprehensive troubleshooting

This updated certication is job-role focused and covers the latest technology innovation on Cisco routers and switches with Cisco IOS version 15, IPv6, IOS Licensing and comprehensive troubleshooting scenarios being incorporated into the revised curriculum.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I take the old or new course?
The CCNA Routing and Switching Certication can be achieved with either the old or the new courses. The old exams will however go endof-life on the 30th of September 2013.

Do the new courses differ from the old?

Yes: there are signicant differences between the old and new curriculum, students should take the exam that relates to the version they have studied.

Can I mix and match the old and new courses?

Yes you can, although we would strongly recommend that if you have already started your CCNA certication journey, that you complete on the previous version. The differences between the old and the new curriculum are signicant, students wishing to take the new exams after following the v1.1 courses would need to do a considerable amount of additional studying to close the anticipated shortfall in knowledge. We recommend that all students discuss their training with our training advisors to ensure they complete on the path that is right for them.
