SUBJECT: Fee Increases

The State Budget (Public Act 09-03) that went into effect on September 8, 2009 increased
the State’s portion of all Planning and Zoning fees from $30 to $60 effective on October 1,
2009. As a result, the City’s fees need to be adjusted. Excluding subdivision fees, which
the Board may revise of their own authority, State Statue requires that the Board review
and make fee increase recommendations for approval to the Board of Aldermen. The
recent KRIT report recommends an increase in Planning and Zoning Fees. As
demonstrated in attached fee comparison, the City’s fees are well below those charged in
other communities. The proposed fees are based on the middle ground of those
communities surveyed.

In addition to those fees affected by the State required increases, staff recommends
increasing copying fees in line with other City Departments as follows:

8”x11” – from $.50 to $1.00 per page

8”x14” – from $.50 to $1.00 per page
11”x17” – from $1.00 to $2.00 per page

Certified copies would remain $5.00 per page. No other changes to fees are requested at
this time.
