OBJECTIVES:
Make questions and give short answers. Ask and give information about a person.

Language Focus: Making questions

To make a question, invert the subject and the auxiliary verb. If there is no auxiliary verb, use do/does/did. Examples: She is wearing jeans. You were born in Paris. He wants ice cream. (What is she wearing?) (Where were you born?) (What does he want?)

Giving short answers

Short answers are very common in spoken English. If you just say Yes or No, it can sound rude. We use short answers after Yes/No questions. To make a short answer, repeat the auxiliary verb. In the Present and Past Simple, use do/does/did. Examples: Are you coming with us? Don't forget to write. Does Kim like walking? SHORT ANSWER (Yes, I am). (No, l won't.) (No, she doesn't. She hates it.)
