22 stitches x 22 rows to measure 4 x 4 inches over garter stitch"

Abbreviations:
Garter stitch - Knit each row" SSK - Slip stitch, knit next stitch, pass slipped stitch over knit stitch." K2TOG - knit two stitches together" PM - place marker"

Instructions
Body (knit in one piece):

! Cast on 100 stitches using yarn A. " !

Change to yarn B, knit row. As you change yarns carry the yarn up along the edge , this not only saves the amount of yarn used but also leaves a clear edge for the crochet nish. "

! Change to yarn C, knit row." ! Change to yarn A, knit row. " ! Continue in garter stitch alternating yarns as established until measuring 6 from cast on edge. " ! ! !
Sleeves

Place on stitch holder until sleeves completed. (Alternatively use a circular need;e to complete body and use straight needs to make sleeves)"

! Cast on 38 sts." !

Garter stitch in pattern as above until piece measures 5.5, the sleeve should end on the same colour as body i.e. if you ended on yarn A then both sleeves should end with yarn A."

! Place on stitch holder and make second sleeve to match." ! !

Connect sleeves to body

Knit 23 stitches from main body, maintaining colour repeats as set, Place 2 stitches from main body on stitch holder. " Place 2 stitches from sleeve on stitch holder, pm, knit 34 stitches, place 2 remaining stitches on sleeve stitch holder. " Place next 2 stitches from main body on holder, pm, Knit 46 stitches. " Place 2 stitches from sleeve on stitch holder, pm, knit 34 stitches, place 2 remaining stitches on sleeve stitch holder, Place next 2 stitches from body on stitch holder, pm, Knit remaining stitches (Total 160 sts on needles)."

Hood

Work one row. " k2tog, *Knit to 2 sts before marker, ssk, slip m, k2tog* repeat to last two stitches, ssk. "

Knit 12 sts, kfb, *knit 11 sts kfb* repeat three times, knit 13sts. (66 sts) Place marker to indicate beginning of hood."

! Garter stitch maintaing colour repeats until hood measures 8 1/2 from marker." ! Split stitches evenly on two needles. Kitchener/ Graft stitches together. " !
Finishing

Place four stitches from sleeve and four stitches from underarm onto two needles, graft together. " Sew sleeve edge. "

! Repeat for other sleeve. " ! !

Single crochet using Yarn A around front edges, hood and cast on edge. " As you arrive at decreases at neck edge, sc 6 stitches to form buttonhole and crochet into same stitch to form loop. Continue with single crochet around, " Block if desired.
