Do You Have The Right Attitudes For Success In Life?

Numbers 14:36-45

Numbers 14:36 (NKJV) Now the men whom Moses sent to spy out the land, who returned and made all the congregation complain against him by bringing a bad report of the land,

Numbers 14:37 (NKJV) those very men who brought the evil report about the land, died by the plague before the LORD.

Numbers 14:38 (NKJV) But Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh remained alive, of the men who went to spy out the land.

Numbers 14:39 (NKJV) Then Moses told these words to all the children of Israel, and the people mourned greatly.

Numbers 14:40 (NKJV) And they rose early in the morning and went up to the top of the mountain, saying, "Here we are, and we will go up to the place which the LORD has promised, for we have sinned!"

Numbers 14:41 (NKJV) And Moses said, "Now why do you transgress the command of the LORD? For this will not succeed.

Numbers 14:42 (NKJV) Do not go up, lest you be defeated by your enemies, for the LORD is not among you.

Numbers 14:43 (NKJV) For the Amalekites and the Canaanites are there before you, and you shall fall by the sword; because you have turned away from the LORD, the LORD will not be with you."

Numbers 14:44 (NKJV) But they presumed to go up to the mountaintop; nevertheless, neither the ark of the covenant of the LORD nor Moses departed from the camp.

Numbers 14:45 (NKJV) Then the Amalekites and the Canaanites who dwelt in that mountain came down and attacked them, and drove them back as far as Hormah.

The Hebrew people continued to blatantly disobey Moses and God on their trek to Canaan. What are some of the attitudes they possessed that you and I should avoid.

1. Fear V. 36 Bad Report

2.2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV) For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

2. Grumbling V. 36 - Complain
1 Corinthians 10:6 (NKJV) Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted.

1 Corinthians 10:10 (NKJV) nor complain, as some of them also complained, and were destroyed by the destroyer.

3. Presumption VV. 40 & 44 We will go up

James 4:13 (NKJV) Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit";

James 4:14 (NKJV) 1whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.

4. False Repentance V. 40 We have sinned

2 Corinthians 7:10 (NKJV) For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.

5. Self-Sufficiency V. 43 The Lord will not be with you

Mark 14:29 (NKJV) Peter said to Him, "Even if all are made to stumble, yet I will not be."

Mark 14:30 (NKJV) Jesus said to him, "Assuredly, I say to you that today, even this night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times."

1 Corinthians 10:12 (NKJV) Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.
