EXAMPLE: SIMPLE METADATA SCHEMA FOR MUSIC

The system analyzes 400 musical attributes, or "genes," such as gender of lead vocalist, time signature, and level of distortion on the electric guitar, in order to find recommendations. Each song is represented by a vector, or a list of attributes. Rock and pop songs have 150 genes, rap songs have 350, and jazz songs have approximately 400. Other genres, such as world and classical music, have between 300 and 500 genes. The system uses algorithms to generate lists of songs with similar vectors. Morell, 2009
