Follow-up questions: 1. Review your initial questions before starting the lab. Did you answer these after finishing the lab? Explain. Both of the initial questions were solved. Both were falsified. 0.1% concentration had more deaths than 10%, but in 10% they were always moving because they were stress. Surprisingly there was 2 deaths for 0% concentration, so it was false. 2. Look at the graph you made above of the % of blackworms that died at each concentration of copper sulfate. What is the LD-50 that you would calculate from this data? Somewhere between 0.01 to 0.1 concentration but more to 0.1%.

3. How would your answer change if you were trying to determine the ED-50 (effective dose, or dose where 50% of the blackworms changed behavior)? Hint: Think about what concentration of copper made about half of the blackworms stop moving unless poked, etcIs this value less than the LD-50? Why? It would be 0 to 0.01% concentration because half of them stop moving. It is less because the effective dose just has to affect them. In LD-50 50% of the population dies. You need less for ED-50

4. If you were the policy-maker in charge of determining the highest level of copper that should be allowed in San Diego Bay, what concentration would you choose? Why? Less than 0.01% concentration of CuSO4 because around that range is were ED-50 would be. We dont want the living organism to die. And there would be a lot of boats so the CuSO4 would go up, so less than 0.01% would just do the job. Ill protect most of the living organisms.
