Press Release
Troon Vineyard announces new Winemaker

Highly acclaimed Napa Valley Zinfandel expert, Stephen Hall, joins Troon Vineyard team in the Applegate Valley of Southern Oregon.
Grants Pass, Oregon. March 2nd, 2014. Troon Vineyard announced the appointment of Stephen Hall as head Winemaker in charge of all production. We are excited about having someone with the track record of great wine that Stephen Hall clearly has, said Larry Martin, President and Owner of Troon Vineyard. Obtaining the services of someone like Stephen will continue the path of excellence for both Troon Vineyard and the reputation of Southern Oregon as a wine destination. We are looking forward to Stephens influence on programs like our Zinfandel, Vermentino, as well as our new Malbec/Tannat blends. Of course, our excitement is tempered by the departure of Herb Quady to continue the growth of his brand. After 10 vintages, we are happy for Herb to get the time to focus on his own project and we wish him nothing but the best. We are thankful for his help during the transition in the coming months. I am truly excited to be a part of the Southern Oregon wine region, said Hall. Its on everyones radar and there is a great buzz in the industry about this place. Troon is so well regarded and has done great things. My goal is to continue the upward climb, while staying true to the stylistic wines that have been created as part of the Applegate Valley and Southern Oregon mystique. Halls resume includes most recently a five year tenure at famed Zinfandel producer Robert Biale Vineyards. There he was responsible for a dozen wines scoring between 92 and 95 points by noted publications Wine Spectator and Robert Parkers Wine Advocate. Halls career includes winemaking at Clos du Val and Chateau Potelle and at legendary producer Stags Leap Wine Cellars working alongside Warren Winiarski. Troon Vineyard holds a reputation for being a trendsetter in the Applegate Valley. Troons firsts include the vineyard planted in the modern era (1972), winery in the western Applegate, Zinfandel (1972) and first to plant Vermentino (2007) in Oregon. Troon Vineyard has always been farmed using sustainable practices and currently holds a LIVE (Low Input Viticulture and Enology) certification. Troon Vineyard was named Top 10 Hottest Wine Brand in 2012 by Wine Business Monthly and has earned hundreds of awards and accolades over its 40 year history. ***
