Introduction
Ceragons FibeAir Outdoor Enclosure allows operators to set up complete wireless backhaul networks in alloutdoor environments using a multi-unit design ideal for any pole-mount, wall or roof-top installation. The fully weather proof solution provides the same advanced FibeAir family feature set in a compact, zero footprint casing and is best suited for sites where adding indoor equipment is either impossible or prohibitively expensive.
Key Features
5 RU 19 rack space - 4 RUs for IDUs, 1 RU for panels and cabling Installation anywhere - on a rooftop, wall, or pole Passive heat exchange - no need for air conditioning systems Support for the same FibeAir product line used for indoor deployment External battery backup solution with enclosure (Optional) Heating unit for frigid environments (Optional) Easy installation and maintenance
Product Overview
The FibeAir Outdoor Enclosure enables operators to minimize logistics, reduce floor space and decrease rental costs. It requires zero additional footprint at the central office or communications room, and helps to significantly reduce power consumption, maintenance and operational expenditures. The FibeAir outdoor enclosure offers versatile deployment scenarios including protected Ethernet and TDM rings, complex nodal configurations and radio schemes, such as 1+1, 2+2, 4+0 in an all outdoor environment. The solution complies with NEBS, FCC and European electrical, environmental and safety standards as well as with IP-55 certification for water and dust proofing.
The FibeAir Outdoor Enclosure is a light weight, heat-exchanging based enclosure, which can be installed anywhere (on a pole, wall or roof floor). The FibeAir Outdoor Enclosure uses the same hardware and software as the regular Ceragon product lines. At the first stage, it fits the IP-10 (up to four) and 1500R (up to two) FibeAir Indoor Units:
FibeAir IP-10
FibeAir 1500R
The following configurations are supported: 1+0 and 1+1 HSB configurations (including protection panel), 2+0 and up to 4+0 or 2+2. TDM XC/grooming, Including IP-10G nodal enclosure (I+) usage Packet switch solution
External fans can be installed to handle high power configurations. Heaters can be handled to ensure proper functioning in very cold environments, including cold start on -40 degrees. Backup batteries solution with additional enclosure is available. The FibeAir Outdoor Enclosure can be locked to ensure security, and automatic warning can be generated in the case of door opening or fan malfunction.
The FibeAir Outdoor Enclosure is an easily transportable structure for indoor microwave units, which can be deployed in any kind of outdoor environment. The FibeAir Outdoor Enclosure includes five rack units (RUs) 19" rack space: Four RUs for indoor units (IDUs). One RU for panels and cables.
The FibeAir Outdoor Enclosure features are the following: Installation anywhere on a rooftop, wall or pole. Passive heat exchange, avoiding the need for air conditioning systems. Support for the same FibeAir product line used for indoor equipment. Optional external battery backup solution (with its own enclosure). Optional heating unit for very cold environments. Compliance with NEBS, FCC and European electrical, environmental and safety standards.
IP-55 certification for water and dust proofing. To alleviate security concerns, the enclosure door can be locked. When the door is opened, it can generate a "door open" External Input alarm on a Ceragon network element inside the enclosure. The enclosure 5 RU size makes it suitable for deployment in both tail and aggregation sites, and in redundancy applications requiring 1+1 equipment protection.
Overall Dimensions
The FibeAir Outdoor Enclosure's dimensions are the following: Height: 18.5 in / 47 cm Width: 24 in / 61 cm Depth: 17 in / 43 cm
Power Consumption
The OE power consumption (not including the IDUs hosted within the enclosure and the ODUs powered by the IDUs) is 16 W, when only the internal fans are installed and 30 W when the external fans are also installed. When the internal heater is installed and functioning, another 250 W will be consumed. The total power consumption of the IDUs installed in the enclosure (not including the ODUs powered by the IDUs) must not exceed 90 W, when only the internal fans are installed and 200 W when the external fans are also installed. Total power consumption, including IDUs, ODUs and the enclosure must not exceed 800 W.
Thermal Management
The temperature range covered exceeds the temperature range of -50C through +550 C for which the IDUs are designed. Higher temperatures are managed using internal fans, and, when available, external fans. Lower temperatures are managed using a heating device. A temperature sensor, located on the control board, controls the starting and stopping of the fans and/or heater.
FibeAir Outdoor Enclosure Product Description
The controller board contains the following components: Main Power Input The Controller Board contains two separate power input connectors marked A and B. Input A is the main battery input while input B may be used as a back-up/redundant battery input. On the right side of the board, there are two entries for -48V power input, Power A and Power B, with two fuses (plus and minus). There is a Fuses OK LED, and a Power Available LED for each power input. A spare fuse enables immediate replacement of a defective fuse. The card assembly contains both the main power on-board connector and the corresponding cable connector with screw terminals suitable for cable cross section of up to 6 mm2. No special tools are needed for cable installation.
RTN(BATTERY+) 48V(BATTERY)
Unit VDC A
Nom. Value 48
Max. Value 57 20
Power Output to IDUs The controller board contains barrier strip connectors for -48 V power input to the IDUs inside the enclosure. The connectors are located in the front part of the board:
-48V R
Four connectors transmit the power coming from the main power input A to the IDUs and two connectors transmit the power coming from the main power input B. The IDU power cable supplied with each IDU may be used to connect the IDU to the controller board.
The controller board contains a dual F/F DB9 connector to connect the local alarms to the IDU external connector. The alarm signals are duplicated for both DB9s for 1+1 hot-standby schemes. A straight DB9 female (IDU side) to DB9 male (controller board side) cable must be used to connect to the IDU. The following alarms are available: Alarm #1 - Internal Fan Failure: The alarm will be set when one or both of the internal fans fail. Alarm #2 - External Fan Failure: The alarm will be set when one or both of the external fans fail. Note: Since external fans are optional, this alarm should be ignored when external fans are not installed. Alarm #3 - Door Switch or Local Alarm #3: If the door switch is connected, the Alarm will be set when the door is opened. If the door switch is not connected, Alarm #3 may be used for any required local alarm. Alarm #4 - Heater or Local Alarm #4: The alarm will be set whenever the temperature drops below the temperature at which the heater should start operating (-60C) but the heater failed or no heater was installed. Note: Since the heater is optional, this alarm should be ignored when the heater is not installed. Alarm #5 - Local Alarm #5 Note: When the Local Alarms 3, 4 and/or 5 are in use, the second alarm wire for each of them must be connected to the Alarm Reference connector on the Control Board.

Heating System
In very cold climates, it may be necessary to install one or two heaters. Each heater module's specifications are 48 V, 250 W SAIP's 04640.2. When the temperature inside the enclosure drops below -6oC, the heater(s) start working. When the temperature inside the enclosure reaches 0oC, the heater(s) stop working. Note: In the temperature range at which the heaters function, the fans are not in operation. If they were, the functionality of the heater would be reduced as the generated heat would be blown out of the enclosure. Note: Fans and heaters can be fed from either Power A or Power B.

Test Connector
The controller board includes a test connector, which is used by a Ceragon technician to check the good functioning of the various components.
12
Door Holder
The door holder is a metal bar, fixed at the upper part of the door. It can be released and attached to the upper part of the enclosure, thus ensuring that the door remains in place while a technician tests the good functioning of the components inside the enclosure, installs a heater or replaces defective parts.
