November 1998 Present Vice President of Distribution Promoted from Director of Distribution to oversee shipping of more than 11.5 million units per year to independent optometrists, specialty retailers, company-owned stores, department stores, and internet resellers on behalf of this $200 million division of HVHC Inc., the largest American-owned eyewear company worldwide. Direct operational functionality of 165,000 square feet of warehouse space in the U.S., Canada, and U.K. Manage three warehouse managers and 155+ hourly employees. Hand-picked as Project Manager for a 67,000 square foot distribution portion of a new 140,000 square foot facility in Texas; traveled biweekly to meet with lead project manager, consultants, construction manager, integrators and others while maintaining VP of Distribution responsibilities. Attained C-TPAT (Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) certification for Viva, which speeds international freight through customs to ensure customer demands are met in a timely manner. Key member of HVHCs domestic transportation team that negotiated a $17 million UPS contract with significantly reduced air and ground rates as well as $250,000 of consulting work. Formulated KPIs and initiated cross-training in the NJ distribution center; benefits were realized the week after Hurricane Sandy when only 25% of employees reported yet productivity was maintained. Streamlined international freight forwarding by replacing a disparate global system with a centrally controlled system that delivered finished goods from 41 factories in five countries into one freight forward for first year savings of $350,000. Credited with instituting a fast mover slotting program into the warehouse : created a U shape picking area for the top 250 skus that enabled one person to work in the area with a UPH (units per hour) three times higher than established KPI. Delivered $77,000 in net savings by modifying shape and design of shipment packs to decrease weight by 53% for annual reduction of 75,000 pounds in air freight while also improving stocking efficiency. Reduced packing staff by two full time employees by reconfiguring the packing area from a linear, multiindividual work station system with limited packing carton storage to a U shaped area with multiple teams back to back and enough packing cartons for an entire day. Seamlessly implemented the Global Freight Forwarding Program by proactively orchestrating with production departments and office management of independent operating companies to ensure consistency, compliance and accountability while implementing new procedures.
