I am very appreciative of the cards and notes from students and the emails from Beagle parents wishing me a speedy recovery. While I had hoped to be back to work this week, my doctors and my body say otherwise. It looks like I will be out for the next couple of weeks. Mr. Schuchaskie and Mr. Moore will be filling in for me on some days in my absence, but rest assured that my awesome staff is keeping me up-to-date on Beagle happenings. 2013-14 School Calendar Changes: The district has determined a plan of action to recoup instructional hours lost due to school delays and cancellations. COUNSELORS CORNER ~ Sandy Husted~

The staff at Beagle works hard to ensure that they are providing students with the best academic instruction on a daily basis. In addition, the staff takes the time to teach the students to be good citizens who care for and respect each other. The staff helps students value themselves and each other by encouraging them to be helpful, compassionate, considerate classmates. We call these positive student interactions bucket fillers. Bucket fillers are those who help without being asked, give compliments, and generally spread kindness and good feelings to others. Please brainstorm a list of ways your child can fill other students and the staffs buckets in the classroom and around school. Here are a few examples to get you started: Saying good morning to the adults in the building or classmates. Sharing with a friend. Saying please thank you and excuse me. Helping clean up. Opening the door for someone. Giving someone a compliment. Asking someone to play with you. Being extra helpful to teachers and adults.

I know it is wet and the sun is not sunny, but we can have lots of good fun that is funny. Dr. Seuss
Its not going to be sunny everyday, which is why its important to know that you can still have fun. Perhaps the analogy is that life is not always going to go the way you plan, conditions arent always going to be perfect for having a good time, but if you apply yourself you can still feel good and make the most out of it. Be prepared for some rocky or not-so-fun times and have a plan in place for how to deal with them so you can still feel good and make the most of it.
