SOURCE APPROVAL
3.1 The contractor shall submit to the Engineer for his review and approval full detail of the proposed sources of Steel Reinforcement. These Sources of steel supply shall be regularly and thoroughly examine to ensure that the quality of the material supplied is satisfactory and that it does not deteriorated during the performance of the project. Predefined sources shall be specified to Special Provision of Contract Documents. Reinforcement shall be obtained only from manufacturers approved by the Engineer. Each consignment of reinforcement steel shall be subject to acceptance test.

B
The nominal dimensions of a deformed bar are equivalent to those of a plain round bar having the same weight (mass) per foot meter as the deformed bar

The permissible variation in weight shall not exceed 6% of nominal weight as per ASTM A615. The reinforcing steel should withstand the bend test while being bent around the pin without cracking on the outside radius of the bent portion. The requirement for degree of bending and sizes for pins are prescribed as below. TABLE 3 Bend Test Requirements

SUBMITTAL
5.1 The Contractor shall submit to The Engineer for his review and approval, the manufacturer's records of chemical and physical properties of each batch of billet steel bars and a certificate that the respective material furnished meets the requirements for the steel reinforcement specified. The manufacturer's records shall include certificates of mill as well as analysis, tensile and bend tests result of the steel reinforcement. Three copies of the steel test report shall be furnished with each consignment of steel reinforcement. The steel shall be tagged and cross -referenced with mill certificates. The Contractor shall prepare bar bending schedules of all the reinforcing steel bars and these bar bending schedules shall be submitted to the Engineer for his approval. All detailing shall be done as per ACI standards AC1-315 & 318. The Contractor shall obtain approval of the bar bending schedules before starting actual bar bending works.
