SECTION 1 - USER CHARACTERISTICS The 88M30 Motor Transport Operator, BNCOC course is designed to enable qualification to members of the Total Force with prior service to the requirements of Skill Level 3. The course contains the combat critical tasks of this MOS and presents them in a training sequence compatible with available training time in the Total Army School System (TATS) school environment. Student must meet qualifications as specified in the Course Management Plan/Program of Instruction (CMP/POI) and should be assigned or pending assignment to MOS 88M30 and not have been awarded the MOS.

SECTION 2 - COURSE OVERVIEW 2.1 Course Objective

The objective of the 88M30 Motor Transport Operator, BNCOC course is to provide motor transport operator training for Total Force personnel (active and reserve components) in supervising convoy operations; self-recovery operations; cargo and vehicle shipment; fuel loading/transporting; base operations; vehicle chemical detection; and identifying the characteristics of M911, M747, HMMWV, HEMMTT, SUSV, M939, CTIS, and PMCS. Upon successful completion of the course, the student will have the skills and knowledge necessary to perform the tasks for a Motor Transport Operator skill level 3 proficiency. 2.2 Course Content

The 88M30 Motor Transport Operator, BNCOC course presents a series of combat critical tasks during two major phases, Phase I: Common Leader Training (CLT) (IDT for RC), and Phase II: Technical Training (ADT for RC). Phase I consists of the 85-hour Common Leader Training (CLT). Phase II consists of a 2-week technical training period. In Phase II the following lessons will be covered: - Motor Transport Vehicle Familiarization Familiarization with the characteristics, components, data, capabilities, limitations, and application of several M-series tactical motor vehicles. Vehicle Services Preparation prepare vehicle for a scheduled service. SINCGARS Operation operate a SINCGARS-V radio in the single channel and substation frequency hopping secure modes. Operate Global Positioning Systemcovers the Global Positioning System. Supervise Truck Terminal/ Trailer Transfer Point Operations supervise truck terminal/trailer transfer point operations. Fuel Loading/Transporting/Dispensing supervise loading, transporting, and dispensing of fuel from petroleum-type vehicles. HEMTT Crane Operation and Safety supervise HEMTT crane operation. Self-Recovery Operations supervise vehicle self-recovery and winch operations and recover the vehicle. Prepare a Strip Map prepare a strip map to include start, check, and release points and any other critical points. Perform as a Serial March Unit Commander perform as a serial/march unit commander.

Convoy Defense Operations direct convoy defense operations. Directing the Crossing of a Contaminated Area direct the crossing of a contaminated area. Motor Transport Base of Operations prepare, implement, and defend a base of operations which will expedite the movement of vehicles into the area and allow an orderly occupation of the area. Force XXI describe the Force XXI concept. Spilt-Base Operations describe split-base operations. In-Transit Visibility describe ITV, its component hardware, and execution. Modularity describe modularity.

Course Organization and Training Sequence

Lessons within each phase are listed below in the recommended sequence of instruction.

Throughout the Phase II instruction, instructors will use viewgraphs to review information and provide a graphical representation of the topic being discussed. Viewgraphs will be primarily the media used during the 88M30 Motor Transport Operator, BNCOC course.
