Best New Artist

Courtney Barnett
With a laid back, rhythmic sound, her songs focus on everyday events without ever sounding boring due largely to lyrics like And in my dreams I wrote the best song I have ever written, but I cant remember how it goes

I Break Horses

Sounding a bit like M83 but with a female vocalist, I Break Horses arent technically a new band (their first album came out in 2011), but theyre gaining a lot of fans with their second album Chiaroscuro.

Contributors - Melissa, Corinne Joanna Gruesome
From: Cardiff, Wales Sounds like: Noise Pop, Indie Rock, Riot Grrrl like Listen: 1 - Wussy Void 2 - Tugboat (Galaxie 500 cover that
is just so, so good)

Its like listening to a mashup of hardcore punk, twee, indie rock and shoegaze. Joanna Gruesome (not anybodys name but the band) is highly recommended for fans of any (or all) of those genres.

3 - Sugarcrush

Soak

17-year old out of Ireland signed to Chvrches record label. She only has one video out on youtube as of yet, but that song happens to be the kind that you want to listen to over and over. It really gets in your blud...

Water Liars
According to the band, their latest album is about living, loving, and earning a living in hard times, and their songs do an admirable job at conveying the range of emotions that accompany those pursuits.

What your fellow contributors are listening to this month

a great album by such a great band. Produced by a member of The National, if you've ever wanted to listen to just some solid indie rock and cool instrumental rifts, this album is for you. Plus lyrically, the emotions are so raw, I just want to lay and think and cry.

Corinnes Pick
Bear Hands - Distraction (2014)
I randomly found this album in Sounds like: Indie Rock, Punk, New Wave-ish itunes new releases section and havent been able to stop listening. Listen: This sophomore effort from Bear 1 - Agora Hands isnt life changing, but it 2 - Giants provides a good collection of fun, 3 - Crime Pays catchy songs to blast in the car.
