Abstract
The waveshapes of voltage and current of a ZnO non-linear resistor (MOV) were recorded by means of a digital storage oscilloscope
where the MOV were energized with two types of power frequency source of sine-wave, that is, a constant current source and a
constant voltage source. The data sampled by the oscilloscope were studied, based on which some important properties of the MOV
energized with power frequency source were discovered. The discoveries demonstrated that some currently used test methods for
measuring power-frequency parameters of an MOV are not suitable to the MOVs properties, and hence, the new measuring methods
were developed in this paper.
