ONWJ and Communities

Focusing six villages in Karawang, Subang and Indramayu, our community development programs have always involved community members, local administration and non-governmental organizations (LSM) in program decision. It covers the provision of educational scholarship, reading and writing education program, vocational training, renovation of public facilities, development of sh llet factory, support to local sh breeding and provision of seed funding for micro loan for shermen. PHE ONWJ also conducted tree planting program and provided 100 units of organic and inorganic garbage containers on Pulau Pramuka Island, Kepulauan Seribu. Besides improving the quality of environment, the planting of mangrove trees is also expected to be capable of reviving economic activities of people living in the coastal area.

OTAP In 2012, PHE ONWJ had a new initiative to involve employees in tree conservation program in coastal areas, including mangrove and other productive trees. Someday, the coastal area would become nature and tourism education area, which in due time would be able to help increase economic potential of the regions. The idea of the program is actually very simple, PAY-IT-BACK TO NATURE. The idea turns out to gain positive response from employees and their families who have been quite eager in giving donation to become foster parents of trees in Cipta Lestari Program - Orang Tua Asuh Pohon (OTAP), which was executed around the operational area of the company in West Java.
