Q001: Battle menus in FF7/8/9 are not visible/flickering A001: in the hw/accel plugins use a different Offscreen Drawing

mode, and disabl e Frame Skipping in the soft plugin Q002: Hi-Res 2xSaI textures are slow on my card/glitchy in my game A002: If your system can't handle it, or the game doesn't work fine with it, tur n the option off. Or try to follow the tips in the plugin readmes. Q003: OpenGL is slower as D3D on my nVidia card A003: Turn off vsync in the nVidia OpenGL display properties Q004: Fullscreen OpenGL is flickering on my nVidia card A004: Use the "Block transfer" page flipping mode in the nVidia OpenGL display p roperties (I've added some additional code to avoid flickering in 1.62, but sure is sure) Q005: My Kyro card is crashing after a short time in D3D A005: Since I don't have a Kyro card, I can't say much about it. There are sever al Kyro users which have reported everything is working fine, though... maybe so meone without problems could give me his exact plugin/driver settings :) Addendum: one Kyro user reported that his issues were solved when he did _not_ install VIA 4-in-1 drivers (expecially the AGP ones). Q006: My ATI card shows only a screwed display A006: Use the ATI "fake subtr. blending" special game fix in OpenGL (fixed with the Cat 3.5 or higher) Q007: My ATI shows still a screwed display A007: Try a different ATI driver (see also Q006). Q008: In D3D/OGL there are some missing splash screens. The soft plugins works f ine. A008: Some screens are harder to emulate with the hw/accel plugins. You can try your luck with a different "Offscreen Drawing" mode, and with the various "Frame buffer Access" options. If it doesn't work, you are out of luck (well, with a po werful gfx card, you can give my OGL2 plugin a try). Q009: When A009: Turn " options, miss some using FSAA the game (or a special part of the game) is slow. off FSAA :) Well, you can also try to disable the "Framebuffer Access and setting the "Framebuffer textures" to "black". Of course you will gfx effects that way.

Q010: FF9 crashs A010: Only use the "G4 polygon cache" special game fix with FF9, no other game f ixes, and absolutely _no_ "read"/"move" Framebuffer Access settings Q011: There is funny looking garbage on the screen sometimes/some parts of the s creen are not displayed at all A011: Try a different Offscreen Drawing setting Q012: Music/game play is much too fast/too slow A012: You will need a steady 50 (PAL) or 59.94 (NTSC) framerate. Use the gpu's " Framerate limitation" option Q013: While playing mdecs (movies) the sound is having disturbing noises A013: See above. Also some cd drives are having a hard time reading psx game cds , so you should try to run the game as an ISO Q014: I want a BIOS file A014: Buy a PSX and dump it yourself, kthanx

Q015: I want an ISO of a special game A015: Buy the game, get yourself a freeware ripping tool (or buy a software like CloneCD), and create it yourself Q016: Some games don't start at all/crash while playing A016: could be an emu/plugin bug, or maybe the game is copy protected. Therefore , try different emus/plugins, try to get a PPF patch or try the subchannel readi ng options in certain emus/cdr plugins. Q017: I get "Segmentation faults" in Linux when starting a game A017: Prolly it's because of a buggy library loader with certain distros (ReadHa t/Mandrake - pthread/nVidia driver issue). Get another distro, or try to use a N ULL spu plugin, or try a different pthread library (see the Mesa plugin readme f or details). Q018: Texture filtering produces glitches/blocky looking 2D gfx A018: Try another filtering mode, or try the screen smoothing option instead, or try a scanline mode instead, or try 2xSaI textures instead, or try FSAA instead . Or try a PC game instead ;) Q019: The game XYZ is having big problems in your ABC plugin A019: Try other plugins first. If they all have the same problems it's most like ly a main emu bug, and I can't do much. Q020: The game XYZ is only having problems in your ABC plugin, other plugins are working fine. A020: Interesting. Most likely I don't have XYZ, so I would need a save state fi le to look what is going wrong. See also Q042. Q021: Battle swirls/motion blur effects don't work in your hw/accel plugins A021: First try to set the "Framebuffer texture" option to "Gfx card" or "Gfx ca rd + software". If that doesn't help, enable "read" and/or "move" "Framebuffer a ccess" settings. Alternatively you can also try to set "Framebuffer texture" opt ion to "emulated vram" and enable "Full vram primitives" FB Access. Q022: Every "Framebuffer..." option/the "Screen smoothing" option is slow on my system A022: That stuff will need a powerful gfx card... and usually all of these optio ns are much slower in combination with FSAA. Try a lower screen resolution and t urn off FSAA. Q023: FF7 battle swirl is missing/the battle hand cursor is surrounded by garbag e A023: Activate the FF7 special game fix Q024: Lunar is giving me black screens A024: Activate the Lunar special game fix Q025: Digimon/Speed Freakes/Killer Loop is looking weird in D3D/OGL A025: Activate the "change front<>backbuffer detection" game fix Q026: I can't see anything in ChronoCross Fort Dragonia A026: Activate the "ChronoCross Fort Dragonia" game fix (not needed in 1.67 or h igher) Q027: Legend of Dragoon is showing blue lines in some screens A027: Activate the LoD special game fix, don't use any filtering Q028: Legend of Dragoon is showing red/green lines in some screens

A028: If you can't stand it, use the soft plugin, or my OGL2 plugin Q029: Even with framerate limitation and a steady framerate my game is too fast/ slow A029: Prolly a screwed main emu vsync emulation. Turn on the "PC fps calculation " special game fix Q030: Mdecs/movies are running at a wrong speed A030: Turn off the "PC fps calculation" special game fix Q031: If I use FSAA on my nVidia card, black rects are getting displayed A031: Use a different Detonator driver or enable my "FSAA" special game fix Q032: I can't see any plugin DLLs in your plugin zip archives A032: Prolly you can't see _any_ DLL files with your MS Explorer. You have to en able that in the Explorer options. Q033: The main emu/ePSXeCutor doesn't show any plugins A033: You have to copy the plugin DLLs into the main emu's plugin directory. Als o some plugins need a certain DX version or other installed files as well. Q034: I get "Thunk connection" errors when I try to configure plugins A034: Most likely caused by a not supported/wrongly installed MSCDEX plugin. Rem ove the MSCDEX cdr plugin from your plugin directory. Q035: In certain capcom games the screen is not fully shown on the right border A035: Yup, that's like it is on the real PSX. Anyway you can try to enable the " Expand screen width" special game fix. Q036: The plugin crashes when I stop/continue the game emulation A036: Gfx card drivers are kinda picky when it comes to that... you can try the Window mode instead of a fullscreen mode, or you can try a different OS (Win XP can handle that better than W98, for example). Q037: The plugin crashes when I toggle between window/fullscreen mode A037: See above. Also notice that most drivers can only do the toggling when you r desktop color depth is the same as your configured fullscreen mode. Q038: I have a 128 MByte card, will it get fully supported? A038: Currently my plugins will not use more than 64 MB with normal selecting more would make no differences. Still more vram can help games in an insane high resolution or a big FSAA mode or especially t to use the "Hi-Res 2xSaI textures". Of course the best choice for is most likely my OGL2 plugin. textures, so you running when you wan 128MB cards

Q039: Where is your game-playing PS2 emu? A039: Right next to my XBox and Gamecube emu... on the CD labeled "trojans..." Q040: Where is your soft gpu plugin? A040: It's now an Open Source plugin maintained by the P.E.Op.S. team (a link to it is on my homepage). The same applies to my spu and my cdr plugin. Q041: What are the best plugins/settings for my system? A041: Depends on your system and the game you want to play. I can't answer such questions at all, you should try your luck in emu forums (like the ones from www .ngemu.com or www.emufanatics.com), maybe somebody there with equal system specs can help you. But the golden rule is (and prolly ever will be): try all plugin s and read the included plugin documentations. Q042: Can I send you a save state/pictures showing glitches?

A042: Yes, but not to my official mail address. Every mail with big attachments will be deleted automatically, I will not even see such mails. So, please first send me a mail with a good bug description, but without attachments, and if I wa nt/need to take a closer look I will contact you. Q043: Can I be your beta tester? A043: Every plugin user already is a beta tester, everybody can report problems to me. But if "beta tester" means: "can I get plugins before they are released?" , the answer is "No". The latest stable versions of my plugins can always be fou nd on my homepage. Q044: Can I translate your plugin into (enter language here) A044: No, thanx. For all kind of reasons. For example I don't want to get mails like "if I enable 'DJdaweewk csdasdjf sdfl', everything is screwed.". And since I update my plugins quite often, I don't want to wait for a release until all tr anslations are finished. Of course you can use a resource tool and change the language directly in the released DLLs, a s long as the credits are still visible, I have no problem with that. And of cou rse I am glad when somebody does send me translated plugin docs, I can host them on my site, if you agree. Q045: I have keyboard/joystick problems in the emu A045: I can't help you with that, since I never made a pad plugin. Q046: I want to make a plugin myself A046: Great :) You can find plugin specifications on my homepage, and there are Open Source plugins as well (for example the P.E.Op.S. ones). But I don't have t ime for private coder lessons, sorry. Q047: When will your next plugin release will happen? A047: When it's ready, when I'm happy, when the sun shines bright and steady... Q048: What about Truform? What about anisotropic texture filtering? What about r eal T&L support? A048: Not possible, since the PSX games are calculating the needed depth (Z) val ues internally, and the psx gpu doesn't receive that informations. Q049: Your DX7 plugin is not inside the gpu archive A049: It is. Hint: the filename is not "gpuPeteDX6D3D.dll" and also not "gpuPete OpenGL.dll". Q050: Madden 2002 is showing weird textures sometimes A050: Enable the "Disable coord check" special game fix (not necessary in versio n 1.67 or higher) Q051: ChronoCross is locking up in the status screen. A051: That will be fixed with the next epsxe version (>1.5.2). Meanwhile you can enable the "Odd/even bit hack" special game fix. Update: epsxe 1.6.0 has a bad timing with CC, so I recommend still epsxe 1.5.2 and the "o/e hack" to play it. Q052: Whenever I am using the OGL2 plugin, a "missing shader extensions" message box pops up. A052: As stated in the OGL2 readmes, only Pixelshader 2.0 capable cards (ATI 950 0 or better, nVidia Geforce FX) can be used with the "shader effects" and "psx t ex win shader" options. If you don't have such a card, turn the options off.
