THOUGHTS FROM BRAD

I recently watched a TV show where it was obvious the subway car was overcrowded. People were frustrated. Some were screaming. Others were unnerved. Tension was in the air. There appeared to be no peace evident on anyones face. All anyone could think about was getting off the subway as soon as possible. That tends to be a depiction of many of our lives. We allow too many interruptions into our normal schedule and the ultimate outcome is life gets overcrowded. Peace and quiet cannot be realized until we stop and get reconnected to what or who is most important. Theodore Brennan wrote the following poem I looked upon a farm one day, that once I used to own; The barn had fallen to the ground, the fields were overgrown. The house in which my children grew, where we had lived for years; I turned to see it broken down, and brushed aside the tears. I looked upon my soul one day, to find it too had grown, With thorns and nettles everywhere, the seeds neglect had sown. The years had passed while I had cared, for things of lesser worth; The things of Heaven I let go, when minding things of earth. What a sad commentary if this poem described our lives. I want to encourage each of us to take time to recharge our soul, and reconnect with what is most important in this life. Life without the Lord gets tense and unnerving. Lets make sure we are building a spiritual house and give it the attention it needs to stay connected to our God. In His Service, Brad

BITS FROM BRO. DAVE

A PERSONAL NOTE: Once again, I greet you
from sunny Georgia. Our sympathies to all of you in snow land! On the past Sunday, we enjoyed visiting with a local Church of Christ here in Athens. We plan to join them again this week. We will, however, be thinking of all our dear friends in Lancaster.

SUNDAY EVENINGS IN THE SANCTUARY:

When I return to the Sunday Evenings In The Sanctuary series, we will be examining the prophetic ministries of Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Jonah, Zechariah and Malachi. Why not be a part of the 6:00 pm service each week?

MIDWEEK BIBLE STUDIES: When we return, I

will be making an announcement regarding the resumption of the Wednesday study groups.

SENIOR EVENT: Heres another reminder about

Senior Saints In The Smokies. The date is May 2630, 2014. This is the 30th year for this great event conducted on the Johnson University (formerly Johnson Bible College) campus and it is to be a very special celebration. One highlight will be the return of David Eubanks as featured speaker. The gathering is geared for those aged 55 and up. (We already have 8 committed to attending and I have mailed the first 4 reservations!) Registration forms are available. If you need forms or have questions, contact me. In my absence, our Church Secretary can provide registration forms and answer questions. (We do use our vans for travel.)

FINAL THOUGHT: How do you suppose the

world would be impacted if every single professing Christian truly lived the life?

Book Nook News

At our March meeting, we'll be discussing Nick
Harrison's latest devotional collection--Power in the Promises. One of our finest devotional writers, Harrison is the author of Magnificent Prayer and His Victorious Indwelling. His most recent, Power in the Promises, is a powerful and transforming work based on the promises and affirmations of Scripture. You can't read it without experiencing a new joy and excitement in your life journey as you learn to anchor your faith on God's Word--and discover that the anchor does indeed hold. A book that serves to renew your hope and infuse you with a new level of trust and commitment, this is a work that makes it stunningly clear that there really is "power in the promises." The next meeting of the Book Nook will be Monday, March 24th, at 6:30pm. Come and join the fellowship of Christian friends. All are welcome at the Book Nook.

Core Values...
Values central to the life, mission and vision of Fifth Avenue Church of Christ are: Christ-Centered Worship
We make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate Jesus through our music. (Romans 11:36-12:1-2). We focus on Jesus through gracebased preaching and teaching & understand the Bible is our authority (2 Timothy 3:16).

Church Health and Biblical Balance

Church health becomes reality when God's people seek harmony & live consistently. We expect every member to protect the unity of Christ's Church. (Romans 12:16; 1 Peter 3:8)

Global Evangelism
We are constant to our founding call to worldwide evangelism, proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is the Savior, Healer, and SoonComing King (Acts 20:27).

Fellowship and Ministry

After people begin their journey with Jesus, we will equip them to find a ministry based upon their strengths. We want everyone to serve in some capacity. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27) We also want His church to be the living evidence of His love and power to the world.

Discipleship
We do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth Avenue Church of Christ in Lancaster. We are all about teaching you that Jesus seeks a daily relationship with Him through a life of obedience. In other words, we want to see the things you are taught actually change your lifestyle & your daily decisions.

How Can I Respond Today?

At FACC we look to the Bible for guidance on all issues. We believe that Gods Word is clear concerning what a person must do to become a Christian. Trust that Jesus can bring you to salvation. Turn (repent) from the sin in your life. Confess your desire to make Jesus the Lord of your life. Be baptized (immersed) in water for the forgiveness of sins and to receive the Holy Spirit into your life. To make this life decision for Christ, we ask that you come forward during our commitment song at the conclusion of the Sunday message. Baptized believers are welcome to become members at FACC by coming forward on Sunday morning or by seeing our Senior Minister to discuss this further. We ask that you complete a series of Curious classes to help you better understand what you are committing to as a member. If you would like to take a Curious class, please indicate this on your Silent Roll Call Card.

Social Conscience
We place high value on the sanctity of human life, of Biblical marriage and morality, and we welcome ethnic diversity (Isaiah 56:7; Philippians 2:15-16).
