The Ruling and Description of Ghusl

"#-"$% As for &hat is related to Ghusl' &hich is &ashing the entire body &ith &ater' then the basic rule &ith regard to it is Allaah(s saying) *And if you are in a state of se+ual i,purity -anaabah%' then purify yoursel.es i!e! &ash your entire bodies%!/ 0Surah Al-1aa(idah) 23 And Allaah(s saying) *4 you &ho belie.e! Do not co,e near the prayer &hile you are in a drunken state' until you kno& &hat you are uttering i!e! &hen you are not drunk%' nor &hen you are in a state of se+ual i,purity 5anaabah% 6 unless you are tra.eling on the road 6 until you ,ake Ghusl i!e! &ash your entire body%!/ 0Surah An-7isaa) 8#3 Ghusl is di.ided into that &hich is 9aa5ib obligatory% and that &hich is 1ustahabb reco,,ended%! As for the obligatory Ghusl' then it is to be done after se+ual intercourse' regardless of &hether one e5aculated or not! A ,ale is obligated to perfor, ghusl if 5ust the head of his pri.ate organ enters the fe,ale pri.ate organ%' e.en if it is for one second! This is based on the hadeeth of Abu Hurairah radyAllaahu anhu% &ho said) Allaah(s 1essenger sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam% said) *9hen a ,an sits in bet&een the four parts of a &o,an and enters into her for intercourse%' the ghusl beco,es obligatory!/ Reported by Al-:ukhaaree and 1usli,! ;n 1usli,(s report' there is the addition) *<e.en if he doesn(t e5aculate!/ The &o,en falls under the sa,e ruling as the ,an in this regard! Ghusl is also obligatory if an indi.idual has any se,inal fluid descend and can find traces of it on hi,=her! This is based on the hadeeth of U,, Sala,ah' &ho reported that U,, Sulai,' the &ife of Abu Talha' asked Allaah(s 1essenger sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam%' saying) *Allaah is not shy &hen it co,es to the truth! So is it obligatory for a &o,an to perfor, ghusl if she has a &et drea, i!e! se,inal fluid co,es out%>/ The ?rophet sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam% responded) *@es' if she sees the fluid!/ This hadeeth is reported by Al-:ukhaaree and 1usli,! As for the Ghusl that is reco,,ended mustahabb%' then &hat falls into it is the ghusl perfor,ed on the day of -u,u(ah' for it is strongly reco,,ended e+cept in the case &here so,eone is gi.ing off a bad odor' then as for this person' it is obligatory for hi, to perfor, ghusl based on the hadeeth of Abu Sa(eed Al-Ahudree radyAllaahu anhu% in &hich Allaah(s 1essenger sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam% said) *?erfor,ing ghusl on the day of -u,u(ah is a duty &aa5ib% on e.ery person past the age of puberty!/ Reported by Al-:ukhaaree and 1usli,!

And it is also based on the hadeeth of Sa,urah bin -undub radyAllaahu anhu% &ho said) Allaah(s 1essenger sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam% said) *9hoe.er perfor,s &udoo ablution% on the Day of -u,u(ah' then he has done good &ith it! And &hoe.er perfor,s ghusl' then ghusl is better!/ Reported by At-Tir,idhee' &ho graded it sound hasan%! As for the description of Ghusl' then it can be perfor,ed in t&o ,anners) The ?artial Ghusl) &hich is &hen one &ashes his head and his entire body! The Bo,plete Ghusl) &hich is &hat has been reported in the hadeeth of Aa(ishah radyAllaahu anhaa% in Al-:ukhaaree and 1usli,' in &hich she said) *9hen Allaah(s 1essenger sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam % &ould perfor, ghusl due to -anaabah se+ual i,purity%' he &ould begin by &ashing his hands! Then he &ould pour &ater fro, his right hand to his left and &ash his pri.ate parts &ith it i!e! the left hand%! Then he &ould perfor, &udoo ablution%! Then he &ould take &ater and place his &et% fingers on the roots off his hair! Then he &ould pour three handfuls of &ater o.er his head! Then he &ould pour &ater all o.er the rest of his body! Then he &ould &ash his feet!/ This &ording is fro, 1usli,! The hadeeth is in Al-:ukhaaree and 1usli, fro, the narration of 1ay,oonah' radyAllaahu anhaa%! So this ,eans that) the Bo,plete Ghusl is preceded by &udoo ablution%' ho&e.er the &ashing of the feet is delayed till after the rest of the body is &ashed! As for the ?artial Ghusl' then there is no ablution that precedes it! :oth these types of ghusl are .alid! A &o,an is not obligated to undo her hair if it is bundled or braided% &hen perfor,ing ghusl' due to the hadeeth of U,, Sala,ah radyAllaahu anhaa% in Saheeh 1usli, in &hich she said) *4 1essenger of Allaah' ; a, a &o,an &ith ,uch braids in ,y head! Should ; undo the, &hen perfor,ing ghusl' due to se+ual i,purity Janaabah% and ,enses>/ He sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam% responded) *7o! ;t is sufficient for you to 5ust pour three handfuls of &ater on your head!/
