CSI: Oscar Pistorius

On the fateful night Reeva Steenkamp sustained mortal injuries at the hands of Oscar Pistorius, witnesses reported hearing different things. Charl du Plessis reconstructs the scene

At 2.20am, a patrolling guard checks in outside Pistorius house and reports all is normal

(72m from Pistorius house): Dr Johan Stipp reports being woken by three bangs he thinks are gunshots. He hears a woman scream fearfully three or four times. At about 3.17am, he attempts to call police and estate security. He hears a man shout for help and then another two or three bangs, which he thinks are gunshots. The second set of shots are the 3.17am shots

At 1.36am, Estelle van der Merwe wakes up to loud ghting, which lasts for about an hour (Oscars House): At 3.19am, Pistorius calls Johan Stander, the head of security at Silver Woods Country Estate, for help shortly after hitting the batrhoom door with a bat

Trevor Crescent, Silver Stream (177m from Pistorius house): Charl Johnson and Michelle Burger wake up to a woman screaming. They also hear a man shout for help and then they hear shots. They try to make a phone call to security at 3.16am

Prosecution says:

The initial bangs that wake Stipp remain unaccounted for Reeva is alive and screaming Stipp makes calls at 3.17am. Pistorius shoots (3.17 shots), killing Steenkamp. No more screams heard Initial bangs Stipp heard are gunshots, which kill Reeva. It is impossible for her to scream, as she would have been brain damaged. Stipp actually hears Pistorius screaming. He sounds like a woman because of anxiety. Stipp makes 3.17am calls. The next two or three bangs (3.17 shots) he hears are not gunshots but Pistorius breaking down the bathroom door
