Energy Measurement and Management

P2LPC
P2LPC data concentrator is intended for automatic reading of data from Mx3y1 family of electricity meters in the AMM-system. The communication with electricity meters runs through low voltage network (DLC) in accordance with the communication protocol DLMS/COSEM. P2LPC also allows the reading of electricity meters (Mx372, MT83x) via the RS485 communication interface. P2LPC is based on single-board computer (SBC), which operates on Microsoft Windows CE operating system. Application in P2LPC is responsible for searching, reading and maintaining two-way communication with electricity meters, to store obtained data in internal memory as well as for data transfer to an assembly center. For communication with the center for data collection there are different communication paths available - GSM, GPRS and Ethernet, using standard Internet protocols - PPP, TCP/IP, FTP and WebService.

CONCENTRATORS ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

P2LPC application runs on a single-board computer (SBC) on Microsoft Windows CE as multithreaded applications, while threads can be implemented simultaneously. Each of them is responsible for its function. Functions are as follows: DLC-network management: Search, installation and deinstallation of meters. Verification of quality of communication between P2LPC and meters. When there are poor conditions in the DLC-network, meters can be automatically placed in iteration (repeater) mode (up to 7 repetitions). This ensures reliable data transfer to remote meters, to which direct communication cannot be established, and also from them. DLC address area allows addressing of up to 3072 meters. Meters reading: This is a periodic task with adjustable timetable that may consist of several schedules. Each of them has its own priority. Results from the meters are stored in result files separately for each meter and for each month. Communication with the meters is in accordance with the DLMS / COSEM protocol. A simplified architecture of the OSI model is used, which is defined in the standards IEC 62056-46 (DATA LINK LAYER USING HDLC-PROTOCOL) and IEC 62056-52. On a physical level P2LPC is using a DLC-modem. The software takes care of sending and receiving of data via the DLC-modem that operates transparently to the higher level of communication. On the data level HDLC is using DLMS protocol. On the aplication level the COSEM protocol is implemented. Supervision and management of meters: With P2LPC it is possible to remotely change the configuration of the meter, a tariff schedule, turning the user on or off, as well as implementation of other operations on demand in real time. Storage of data: For storage of data Microsoft Windows CE with protected file system is used. Every month a new result file is created for each meter. There are three types of files containing different types of data: the state of registries, the state in the measurement period and events and statuses. All files are stored in a local indelible memory. To save memory space and minimizing the amount of transferred data all of these files can be compressed. The size of files stored in this form for one meter per month is about 10 kB. There is 45 MB of memory reserved for storing result files. Deleting of older files is automated. The frequency is set in the parameters of P2LPC. Communication with the billing center: It is possible using the modem or Ethernet connection. For the maintenance and control of the modem communication the Remote Access Server (RAS) and PPP (RFC 1661) protocols are used. When communicating with the center over GPRS, the P2LPC is establishing and supervising the connection with GPRS network. For data transfer the TCP/IP protocol is used. The software package includes several auxiliary applications that take care of the transfer of metering data and files - FTP and WebService, SNMP for monitoring and management, and NTP for the control of time functions. For the transfer and storage of data in billing database the Iskraemeco SEP2WSystem software is used. The use of open protocol standards enables easy installation into other systems.

Maintenance, changing the settings and control over the operation can take place locally through the Ethernet interface or remotely through already mentioned communication channels. There are various types of information available on the P2LPC such as the list of installed meters, meters reading schedules, currently running operations and data files. From the command line it is possible to implement certain commands such as search for new meters in the system, deinstallation of meters, starting meters reading schedules, etc. Configuration files can be browsed, such as files for monitoring the system operation, from which we can see the number of connected meters to the P2LPC, the time-tag of meter installation and the current quality of communication. There are also different levels of records to a log-file, through which the functioning of the concentrator can be analyzed and eventually optimized. DLC-MODEM The integrated DLC-modem takes care of the data transfer between the concentrator and meter through low-voltage network. The communication is serial, asynchronous, with speeds of up to 1200 bit/s. The actual transfer speed through low-voltage network depends primarily on the current situation of the network. Sending and receiving of data are controlled by modem application; broadcast and reception of data are possible on all three phases. Type of modulation Spread FSK (S-FSK) with two carriers (Typically 93,600 Hz and 83,200 Hz adjustment to user preferences is possible) Transfer speed 1200 bps through the network (in poor conditions, 300 bps) The level of transmitted signal It operates in accordance with EN 50065 standard - broadband modulation 134 dB/V meters single-phase connection 128 dB/V meters three-phase connection P2LPC-concentrator 128 dB/V three-phase connection The way of connection Capacitive, galvanic separation Type of communication Partial two-way transfer Communication structure Master (P2LPC) Slave (meter) Repeater mode Self-adaptive, based on the criteria function (the signal - noise ratio on both carriers) Rated voltage Un . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .3x230/400 V, 3x400 V Operating range . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .0.8 Un ... 1,5 Un Rated frequency . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .50Hz Operating temperature range . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .-20 C ... +60 C Storage temperature . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .-40 C ... +80 C Own consumption . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .18 W max.
