ISB-2001002 JULY 8. 2001 05-TRANSMITTION TECHNICAL WORLD WIDE

SUBJECT : Trouble Shooting of BTRA A/T LIMP HOME MODE

MODELS : MUSSO & KORANDO with the BTRA A/T.

CONDITION:
In some case, BTRA A/T goes into limp home(LHM) mode. SYMC found that it is caused by electrical defects.

CORRECTION :
The electrical damage is various. But to clear this possibility, SYMC changed the wiring route and improved wiring harness protection. There is the procedure how to check the BTRA A/T LHM. Definition LIMP HOME MODE : When Input signal of TCU( Transmission control unit) is abnormal, the transmission is limited to 3rd gear only to protect the A/T. - Vehicle starting is very difficult.(engine rpm rise up to 3,000) - High speed is limited up to 80km/h) - Gear shifting is impossible. Check Procedure 1) Solenoid 5 malfunction a. Check fault code. (The fault code is P1737 )

If resistance is changed, the shaken wiring is damaged. caution : If 10 pin plug of A/T is unplugged or loosen, scanner has many fault code(solenoid fault code). After rework, trouble code stored in TCM must be erased by scan-tool. 3) vehicle speed sensor signal malfunction a. Check the fault code. (The fault code is 1704)

b. Check the lack of oil. If oil is lack, oil pressure is not made enough in the A/T at high speed driving or corner driving. And then, engine power is reduced, and the vehicle speed signal into the TCU is abnormal. In this case, vehicle driving is difficult. And if the wheel is full turned to left or right, power is not transmitted.
