Single Cable Connectivity

High Definition Multimedia Interface is the new industry standard for connecting modern AV components. HDMITM allows the transmission of uncompressed digital video and audio content in high definition quality. With one-cable connectivity, HDMITM dramatically simplifies home entertainment system installation and ensures the highest picture and sound quality.

Why 3 HDMITM?
As a digital replacement to the Scart lead, HDMITM output will be included on most digital AV components and games consoles within the next few years so it is critical new televisions have enough HDMITM inputs to cope. Toshiba Active Vision M100 models have an industry leading 3 HDMITM sockets offering the most flexible digital connectivity for HD sources including HD television broadcasts.

Dont Disconnect
For quick and easy connection of HD Camcorders or HD Games Consoles, all Active Vision M100 models have one HDMITM connection conveniently placed on the side of the TV. This along with two HDMITM connections at the rear of the TV, will virtually eliminate the need to keep disconnecting one product to connect another.

More choice, digital quality images, true widescreen, digital quality sound, interactive services
The Active Vision M100 range features a built-in digital tuner giving you access to Freeview, the terrestrial digital television broadcast service you can receive through your existing aerial*. The digital signal contains video and audio information condensed into a single stream that delivers digital quality pictures and sound whilst eliminating the interference or ghosting often suffered with conventional analogue signals. The most obvious benefit of an integrated digital tuner is the greater choice of channels. Freeview currently offers free access to 35 TV channels, 20 digital radio stations, a superb digital text service and a high-tech electronic programme guide. The simple on-screen menu provides access to a wealth of information including:

High Definition TV
Technology & Innovation
Toshibas state-of-the-art Active Vision M100 REGZA LCD television range has been designed for those who want the very best high definition home entertainment. Using ultra-fast picture scanning twice that of standard HDTVs - and a suite of advanced image processing features, Active Vision M100 models are Toshibas most advanced HDTVs to date. Active Vision M100 high speed scanning technology greatly enhances both picture detail and image clarity by reproducing twice as many picture frames per second as the standard HD television signal. The technologys ultra-fast image processing engine creates intermediate frames between each of the broadcast frames to produce a smoother, more detailed picture that better represents true to life movement. Ideal for fast moving sports and home cinema action, Active Vision M100 technology offers class-leading motion reproduction with crisp, fast action that scrolls smoothly across the screen. LCD blur is virtually eliminated and 360 motion sensing means razor-sharp reproduction of objects moving both horizontally and vertically across the screen. If having the best LCD picture was not enough, Active Vision M100 models feature Toshibas award-winning REGZA LCD design with its ultra-narrow frame around the screen. The design is further enhanced with a contemporary high gloss black finish to distinguish this flagship range. With 32in (32WLT68), 37in (37WLT68) and 42in (42WLT68) screen sizes to choose from and standard features including 3 HDMI inputs, Freeview digital tuners and built-in sound system by Onkyo, Toshibas Active Vision M100 models offer the ultimate in high definition home entertainment.

- How Does it Work?

High Definition television from broadcast TV and sources like HD DVD is created by displaying a series of static images in sequence to fool the eye into thinking it is a moving image - just like cinema film. The HDTV broadcast standard and most HD Ready televisions produce 50 picture frames every second to achieve the feeling of motion. Active Vision M100 technology reproduces a staggering 100 picture frames per second, creating a new intermediate frame between every real frame of the broadcast signal by using advanced 10-bit video processing and real-time 360 motion estimation. Each picture frame is held on screen for only 1/120th of a second to eliminate LCD pixel drift and give a far better sense of true to life movement. A cricket ball flying through the air, a football hurtling towards the goal or dramatic high-speed car chases are rendered in super smooth motion with pin-sharp detail and none of the blurring or motion smear so commonly seen on basic LCD televisions. On screen text, such as football results or news tickers scroll seamlessly across the screen with no judder, dramatically improving their readability. By scanning the HDTV signal 100 times per second, Active Vision M100 models take the HDTV viewing experience to a new level.

A revolution in picture quality with intense colour, clarity and definition

High Definition has arrived on cable and satellite TV, on pre-recorded HD DVDs and on WMV HD downloaded movies. The lifelike picture quality of HDTV, with its near three-dimensional depth and realism, dramatically enhances the entire viewing experience. You get closer to the drama, deeper into the action and fully immersed in the growing number of programmes broadcast in HDTV quality.

So What is HDTV?
High Definition television is a broadcast and pre-recorded video format that delivers picture quality vastly superior to standard definition television and even DVD. The standard TV broadcast system in the UK (PAL) creates a picture with 576 lines made up of two half-resolution frames interlaced together. HDTV offers up to 4 times more detail and clarity thanks to using one of two formats: 720p: 720 lines progressively scanned 1080i: 1080 lines interlaced together

By creating a new frame from two original frames and doubling the number of frames, Active Vision M100 reduces afterimages.

This is because each frame is displayed only half the length of time compared to the original 50Hz signal by doubling the number of frames. 1/50 sec (1/60 sec)

Original 50Hz (60Hz) 50 frames/sec

Active Vision M100 100Hz (120Hz) 100 frames/sec

Features
Active Backlight Control The LCD backlight is actively adjusted depending on the brightness of the source signal to optimise contrast and brightness balance. High-Speed Scanning The HDTV signal is scanned at 100 times per second, twice that of standard HDTVs, to dramatically improve clarity and picture motion.

Onkyo Sound System

Active Vision M100 televisions use separate mid-bass and high-frequency drive units. These give the biggest sound possible from a slimline loudspeaker enclosure to improve bass frequency, making dialogue more natural and giving added clarity to special effects. To maximise the benefits of the Onkyo sound system, every Active Vision M100 model features a dedicated sub-woofer output, with variable level from the remote control, for those wishing to add a sub-woofer for low frequency effects. For home cinema enthusiasts there is also an optical digital output for direct connection to an AV amplifier.

10-bit Video Processing Cutting edge 10-bit video processing improves resolution and signal to noise ratio to create a faithful reproduction of the HDTV source. 360 Motion Estimation Active Vision M100 creates fractional picture frames by estimating the movement - in any direction, 360 - of every pixel of the picture frame.

Standard TV Upscaling If you are not yet ready to invest in a high definition source, Active Vision M100 models use active internal scaling to reproduce standard TV broadcasts in stunning 1366 x 768 resolution. Off-air analogue and digital TV broadcasts are sharper and more lifelike, and DVDs look better than ever. Toshibas Active Vision M100 models are designed to get the very best from the HDTV revolution, now and into the future. Toshiba Stable Sound Digital TV broadcasting has allowed adverts to use louder-than average sound or music to attract viewers attention. This can be highly annoying, particularly late at night, and most HDTVs simply ignore the problem. All Active Vision M100 models offer Toshibas Stable Sound feature that if desired, dynamically adjusts volume to keep TV programmes and adverts at a similar sound level.

Real Digital Reduces the number of separate signal conversions to guarantee more of the original signal is retained to display on screen.

Enhanced 3-Dimensional Sound

SRS WOW improves dynamic audio performance by enlarging the soundstage and boosting low frequency effects. The technology creates a panoramic 3-dimensional audio image, eliminating the need for bulky external loudspeakers and crafting a cinema-like surround sound experience using the Active Vision M100s built-in Onkyo loudspeaker system.

Enhanced Detail Active Vision M100 produces twice the pixels per second of standard HDTVs greatly improving fine detail definition.

Natural Colour Four times more colour tones than conventional LCD TVs means more realistic scenes and more natural skin tones.
