A Clerical staff AIM OF THE IMPLEMENTATION OF DMHP To ensure availability and accessibility of mental health care to all the most vulnerable and under-privileged. All these employee are contractually appointed Principal and nodal officer operate the funds of DMHP. Both should sign on cheque used for meeting the expenditure of the DMHP program

Integration of Basic Mental Health care with general health services. To promote Community Participation in the mental health services and to stimulate efforts towards Self-help.

To Increase Awareness about mental health in general public. OBJECTIVES OF DMHP Early detection and treatment of patients within the community itself. To see that the patients and their relatives do not have to travel long distances to go to hospital or nursing homes in the cities.

To take pressure off the mental hospitals. To reduce the stigma attached towards mental illness through change of attitude and public education.

To treat and rehabilitate patients discharged from psychiatric hospitals within the community.

The Phases of DMHP implementation:

Awareness Program (Information, Education and Communication activities) Treatment Program Training Program

Awareness program: 1) Printing pamphlets containing symptoms and address where treatment is provided 2) Lectures to villagers about psychiatric illness and explain various modalities of treatment (to prevent villagers approach quack doctors & witch hunters) 3) Loud speaker announcement of disease symptoms, places where the treatment along with drugs are given free in busy places of villages 4) Skit on mental illness in order to driveway false notions and also improve their knowledge in identifying these in their community 5) Involve local media persons about the nature of the program and encourage them to help us in reducing society stigma about mental illness and schedule for the program 6) Advertising in the form scrolling in local (Citi-cable) in various villages about program, symptoms of diseases, schedules of clinics in their villages and mandals. Treatment Program.:

Treatment plan includes identification of areas in mahaboob nagar district and the criteria for include catchment area each center is providing health care. Over the end of places I will mention the places in mahaboob nagar that have been selected and in consolultation with others these places maybe changed .

Selections of places to conduct clinics in DMHP Criteria for selection of places: 1) Availability of infra-structure CHC will be preferred PHC 2) Mandals will preferred over villages 3) Availability roads
