Joey Fletcher FRQ: American Voting

The data table clearly shows how education can affect voting and how people vote. The interest in the campaign is a large percent in every level of education but when it comes to college level education you have !"#!$% of people having interest within the campaign. The ne&t is who actually voted in the election. 'hen you have grade school( )igh school education it appears that only *+#+*% of those people vote, That an e&tremely low turnout when you compare it to the percent of college people who vote. -ou only have about half of the people with little education voting. That.s a big voice not heard. /iscussing politics daily is also much high 0almost double among college education1 but that2s not the big influencer. The percent of college education trying to persuade people to vote li3e them is. -ou have half of people with college degrees trying to influence how other people vote. This ma3es it so that some people might vote how they don. really feel. 'hile now you only have 4"#""% of lower education trying to influence other on how to vote. That means more college educated people are trying to influence while lower education are trying less. Finally the money contributed is a huge difference but not a big surprise. -ou have +& more people with college degrees contributing to a campaign which means that their political party are getting more support that people with less education. This most li3ely leads to the income in each category. 5t is obvious that education can have a large effect on people2s voting. 6ther demographics that effect voter participation include but is not limited to race and age. The amount of voting for every race has went up in America. 'hite still have the largest percent voting but African#American is a close second. /epending of the race of the person can help determine who they are going to vote for. Just li3e for African# Americans having a larger chance of voting democratic than any other party. Race can play a large role in who gets voted. 'hen it come to age it seems that the older the person is the more li3ely they are to vote. This can have an effect on the results because it seems that younger and older people have a large array of political ideas. 7sually you see more conservatives for old and liberal for young. 6lder people vote more and younger vote less which can definetly help determine voter participation. 6ne reform that has been helpful in increasing voter participation is the ability to mail#in votes. 8y doing this it helps people that are either e&tremely busy or la9y to get their votes counted. This would encourage people to vote using this method because it doesn.t ta3e that much time and they have an easy chance to get their vote out there. 5 would say that Americans participation with the political system is pitiful when it comes to voting. Voting in America is about half the amount registered. 5 believe the reason for this is that some Americans are contempt with the current government and are affraid of change. 5 thin3 that younger American more than older Americans need to get more involved within the political system because they are the future of America and the less they participate then the less America will be what they want. 5 also thin3 that we need more of a balance for lower education and higher education voting. :ven though some lower educated don.t 3now as much about politics they still have a view and for higher education they usually vote for what profits them more than the rest of Americans.
