GENERAL INFORMATION Refunds: If made within 14 days (2 weeks) prior to weekend, all but $100 is refundable. If made less than two weeks, all refunds will be dependent upon filling your space. If you wish to switch weekends, you must give us at least 14 days (2 weeks) notice and a $50 change fee will be added to your total if there is space for you. Internet Use: Silver Bay provides wireless internet service in limited areas of the campus. (Bayview lounge, Inn, the Store, etc.) Course Credit: Upon successful completion of the weekend and submission of required papers and projects, you will have the equivalent of three credits or 36-45 hours of study. Your certificate will be mailed upon completion or given to you at the end of the weekend if you did your homework in advance. Times: Arrive on Friday (the first meal is dinner), and Depart Sunday after lunch. The earliest you can leave is 11:30 a.m. Sunday. What to Bring: PEN AND PAPER, FLASHLIGHT, warm casual clothing, umbrella/raincoat, camera, toiletries, walking/hiking shoes NOT sandals or flip flops, cell phone charger (for alarm clock), calling card, medical insurance card, ID, swim wear, and jackets or sweaters. Sheets and towels are provided. Also bring with you a refillable water bottle. Do not bring alcohol or illegal drugs.

Guest space (not taken as a course) is available at the rate of $220. per person for lodging and meals for the weekend. To make guest reservations e-mail aupaircourse@strose.edu at least five days in advance. The guest fee covers sharing your room and meals Friday dinner until Sunday morning. PROGRAM/SCHEDULE: enclosed is the current draft. You will receive a final copy when you arrive. ROOMATE ASSIGNMENTS: will be made on Aug 27 at noon . BEHAVIOR NOTE: You are not allowed to use drugs or alcohol on the Silver Bay Campus. Those violating this regulation are subject to being sent home early and failing the course automatically.

DIRECTIONS TO SILVER BAY Please note that although The College of Saint Rose is located in Albany, NY you are taking this course at the Silver Bay YMCA Campus, which is 80 miles (1.5 1.75 hours) north of Albany. We recommend these directions once you are north of Albany. * From Albany - Take Northway (route 87 about 60 miles north of Albany to exit 24 and exit (note: if you took routes 90 or 87 to Albany, it was an exit 24 in Albany that you got off at to get on 87 north of Albany; thus this is a second exit 24) * Please note that if you need gas stop at an exit before 24 23 has several gas stations just off the exit of the interstate * At end of exit, turn right (east) and go up and over hill to end of road (4.5) * At the end of road turn left (north) onto route 9N north and go 12.3 miles * As you enter Silver Bay Township you pass Snug Harbor on the right * Silver Bay is .6 miles from Snug Harbor * Bear/turn right onto Silver Bay Road at large sign and drive about .25 miles * Follow Au Pair signs to Bayview Lodge In Summary: If coming from the south or west, take the NY State Thruway to Exit 24 in Albany and proceed north for over an hour on Route 87 (the Northway) to exit 24 (yes, a second exit 24) and follow the directions above. If coming from the east, take 90 west to 87 north, then directions above. TRANSPORTATION GETTING TO SILVER BAY SILVER BAY ADDRESS: 87 Silver Bay Road, Silver Bay, NY 12874-1908 use for GPS ADDRESS This is a unique course that is quickly being put together to assist those au pairs that are not able to find another course before the end of their year or in time to extend. WE CAN NOT GUARANTEE TRANSPORTATION THAT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.
CAR POOLING: One week before the course, on about Aug 23 we will email au pairs with the list of names we have of those attending and phone numbers and email addresses so you might attempt to car pool. Calling each other & car pooling is how most au pairs get to Silver Bay about 94% car pool. TIMING: PLEASE note that you can not depart from Silver Bay prior to 11:30am on Sunday, so make reservation accordingly. Plan at least two hours to get to the Albany Airport from Silver Bay and two hours and 15 minutes to two hours to get to the Bus Station and Train Stations in case of heavy traffic. TRAIN, BUS, AIRPLANES: AMTRAK TRAIN services comes into Albany NY. GREYHOUND, PETER PAN AND TRAILWAY BUS LINES all come into the same bus station in Albany. ALBANY NY AIRPORT is the closest airport. Southwest airlines flies in and out of Albany. SHUTTLES FROM TRAIN, BUS AND AIRPORT: If you fly, train or bus into Albany, YOU MUST MAKE YOUR OWN ARRANGEMENTS TO SHUTTLE TO SILVER BAY which is 80 miles north of Albany NY. We recommend taking the shuttle service set up through one of our instructors. This will be offered if there are at least 4 people who register. To reserve a seat, e-mail us at aupaircourse@strose.edu at least ONE WEEK before the weekend. There are only 10 seats available, so book early! The round trip cost will be $60 round trip paid in exact cash. Identifying the Shuttle: It is your responsibility to be outside waiting for the shuttle. A description of the vehicle will be sent with your shuttle confirmation. GOING TO SILVER BAY FROM ALBANY ON FRIDAY (Pick-Up Times and Locations) Bus Station (34 Hamilton Street, Albany) 5:30 p.m. Albany-Rensselaer Train Station (Amtrak & MEGABUS) 6:00 p.m. Albany NYInternational Airport 6:30 p.m. This shuttle does not pick up from SUNY Albany-Collins Circle, Central Avenue, or any other location not specified above. GOING TO ALBANY FROM SILVER BAY ON SUNDAY Leave Silver Bay 12:00 p.m. Albany Airport Drop-Off 1:40 p.m. Albany Train Drop-Off 2:00 p.m. Albany Bus Drop-Off 2:15 p.m. OTHER POTENTIAL SHUTTLE COMPANIES: another option is to use one of the potential shuttle companies way below.
