If you were in the Orchestra program last year, you are automatically enrolled as a Continuing Player. If you are not playing in the Orchestra this year, return the attached form signed at the bottom by a parent or guardian.
Lessons: We have one small group lesson and one large ensemble rehearsal each week. Students are pulled out of their classroom for string instruction. Students must understand that they are responsible for the work they miss while outside of the classroom. School Instruments: A limited number of school-owned instruments are available to borrow for free. If we do not have the size your child needs, we re uest that you rent, not buy an instrument from one of the area music stores. Rental Procedures: !ach store has its own policies. Please avoid purchasing instruments from area department stores or over the internet. 5ur e6perience has been that they are not playable, do not stay in tune, or fall apart very uickly. 7he uality of craftsmanship, and proper knowledge of a specific instrument can determine the success and en8oyment of the beginning instrumental music student. If in doubt, please consult me first! Music Materials: A music stand is re uired for home practice as it promotes good posture. Wire, folding music stands are available at the above music vendors or the internet for about 9.0. A shoulder pad is a must and comes with the school instrument. If you rent, the !aret" sponge pad is the best for little ##. Students will be issued books and music at school. A violin care kit $with humidifier and cloth( is not necessary. I give my son/daughter permission to enroll in the school orchestra program. I understand how important my involvement will be in providing encouragement throughout the music learning process. I will see that practicing at home will be part of the daily routine, and will help my child to learn good organization skills by helping to be prepared for string days each week.
