3.0 Force And Pressure 3.2 Understanding Pressure in liquids

1. Pengetahuan Sedia Ada (Prior Knowledge)

1.Students have learnt and understood the concept of pressure (definition, formula and application.) 2. Students have learnt factors affecting pressure in liquids and derivation of formula pressure in liquids.

2. Hasil Pembelajaran (Learning Outcomes)

At the end of the teaching and learning process, students should be able to :

1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 3.Nilai Murni (Noble Values)

Relate depth to pressure in liquid. Relate density to pressure in liquid.

Explain pressure in liquids and state . Describe application of pressure in liquids. Solve problems involving pressure in liquid.

1. Induction Set 5 minit

1.Teacher recall the previous lesson before proceed with the experiment. 2.Teacher ask students to transfer their knowledge in form of mind map and submit right away to the teacher. 3.2 experiments will be conducted simultaneously. Aim of the experiments: 1. To find the relationship between the pressure in a liquid according to its depth. (Experiment A) 2. To find the relationship between the pressure in a liquid and its density. (Experiment B) 1. Teacher will explain the procedure in text book and do mock demostration so that students have the rough idea on what they wanted to do. 2. Procedure: Experiment A

2. The measuring cylinder is completely filled with water. 3. The thistle funnel is lowered into the water to a depth of 10.0 cm. The manometer reading is measured. The difference in the liquid heights in the manometer represent the pressure reading. 4. Step 3 is repeated with values of depth 20.0 cm, 30.0 cm, 40.0 cm and 50.0 cm. water, glycerin, alcohol

Experiment B

Procedure: 1. Apparatus is set up as shown in the diagram. 2. The measuring cylinder is completely filled with water. 3. The thistle funnel is lowered into the water to a depth of 50.0 cm. The manometer reading is measured. The difference in the liquid heights in the manometer represent the pressure reading. 4. The experiment is repeated by replacing the water with glycerin (density = 1300 kg m-3) and alcohol (density = 800 kg m-3).

3. Carrying out the experiment.. (Round Robin) 60 minit

1. Teacher ask the students to form 5 team consist of 4 people. 2. Then, they also have to split into 2 group inj each team so that students can do the experiments simultaneously. 3. When Group A do 3

Experiment A, then Group B will do the experiment B. 4. Student 1 in Group A will carry out the experiments meanwhile students 2 will take readings same goes to Group B. 5. Then they will exchange to do the experiments A and B. But this time Student 2 will carry out the experiments and student 1 will take the reading. Experiment B Measuring cylinder, thistle funnel, rubber tube, manometer, metre rule, water, glycerin, alcohol
