Bonds A debt investment in which an investor loans money to an entity (corporate or governmental) that borrows the funds for

a defined period of time at a fixed interest rate. Bonds are used by companies, municipalities, states and U.S. and foreign governments to finance a variety of projects and activities. Bonds are commonly referred to as fixed-income securities and are one of the three main asset classes, along with stocks and cash equivalents. Low Risk Bond Fund A fund invested primarily in bonds and other debt instruments. The exact type of debt the fund invests in will depend on its focus, but investments may include government, corporate, municipal and convertible bonds, along with other debt securities like mortgage-backed securities. Very low Risk CANADA Savings Bond A financial product issued by the Bank of Canada. It offers a competitive rate of interest and guarantees a minimum interest rate. Canada Savings Bonds have both regular and compound interest features and are redeemable at any time. No Risk Guaranteed Investment (Interest) Certificate - GIC A deposit investment security sold by Canadian banks and trust companies. They are often bought for retirement plans because they provide a low-risk fixed rate of return. The principal is at risk only if the bank defaults. The bank's profit is the difference between mortgage rates and GIC rates. If mortgages are at 8% and GICs are at 5%, then the bank makes 3%. GICs offer a return that is slightly higher than T-bills.

Types of GICs
Fixed Rate GICs GICs that pay a fixed rate over the term of the GIC. No Risk Involved Variable Rate GICs GICs that pay a variable rate over the term of the GIC, they are of two kind : Market Linked GICs Return is linked to a market index, making it possible to take advantage of rising stock markets. Even though return is unpredictable, the full principal is guaranteed. These GICs are usually offered in 3 or 5 year terms, do not have early redemption, and have a cap on the return. There is no Risk of Principal, only the Returns may Vary.

Interest Rate Linked GICs Return is linked to a specific interest rate, often the Prime Rate. There is no Risk of Principal, only the Returns may Vary, however a minimum interest rate is Guaranteed Cashable/Redeemable GICs May be redeemed prior to the end of their maturity. Interest rate paid is pro-rated based on how far into the term of the GIC the redemption is made. These GICs tend to pay less interest due to the redemption option. Non-Redeemable GICs - Ideal if you dont need to access your funds before maturity. Term Deposit
A deposit held at a financial institution that has a fixed term. These are generally short-term with maturities ranging anywhere from a month to a few years. When a term deposit is purchased, the lender (the customer) understands that the money can only be withdrawn after the term has ended or by giving a predetermined number of days notice. Term deposits are an extremely safe investment and are therefore very appealing to conservative, low-risk investors. Investors who are not willing to take Risk, or want a secure form of investment, these all instruments are advisable. These Instruments are available with Banks, Financial Brokers, Exchange. Personal Selling is more advisable in these instruments, as they have advantages over others, online selling can also be preferred if the Investor has a prior knowledge about these instruments. These products are Easy to Pitch as the Investors feel comfortable with their low or no Risk profile. they have advantage over the instruments having a greater exposure to stock markets, or having too much fluctuations, as the returns are guaranteed. Low Risk Low Margin. margin goes with the risk, if an investor is ready to bear risk, the returns may go very high, but here in these instruments returns are guaranteed.
