ABSTRACT:

This paper will present a trail that

demonstrates the process of the planning, design and construction of the
foundation and basement in a very
difficult ground with cavernous karst
in Tin Shui Wai, Hong Kong SAR with
thorough considerations of technical
issues and alternative solutions. In
this project, an appraisal was carried out to determine the effect of
geological constraints on the foundation design and to assess the suitability of different types of foundation systems for the project with a
basement of 7m depth.
