The Guardian Historical prsentation : The Guardian is a British national daily newspaper, edited by Alan Rusbridger.

It was founded in 1821 by John Edward Taylor and was called then The Manchester Guardian. Its called The Guardian since 1959. During the 19th century, the Guardian turned from a local paper to a national one. The Guardian was founded by a group of textile traders and merchants, and was known to be an organ of the middle class. The papers readership is mainly on the mainstream left of British political opinion. Indeed, a survey showed that most of Guardian readers belongs to Labour Party. To sum up, it can be considered as a centre-left newspaper. The Guardian has been awarded the National Newspaper of the year in 2011. This newspaper is a reference for academics and the union activists. The Web site of The Gardian is one of the most complete sites of the British press. Numerous sections specialized can be browsed like sport, gastronomy, travels, media But, the one that we are going to focus on, is the business section

Focus on the business page On the business page of the website, we can notice that there are lots of articles. The section Breaking News is the most important part of the page. First of all, breaking news is at the top of the page, just below the data of the market. Several articles are highlighted. They are for example, the articles of the day. On November 4th, 7 articles are put forward and others news are just listed : there is no photo, just a sentence. The main subjects of this day, in the business section, were : - The fact that Co-op bank is going to close 50 branches as hedge funds rescue deal. - The second article learns us that the airline company Ryanair worries on hisintended profit, which will not be the one hoped in front of very low cost which she has to practise as low-cost. An other space on the business page gives more details about the data that have the most important variation at the moment. The section market forces lives , next to markets datas, explains the variations of stock indexes. For example, we can know why the price of the share of the specialist of the aerospace equipment, Meggitt, strongly fell as well as the RBS, while that of Vodafone increased Below stock indexes there is a part named Retail This section presents the projects as well as the values of companies. It contains articles on the current action plans of companies such as Tesco and its possible tailored advertisements. But it also contains articles on the values that brands want to convey. Besides, this community discusses the lack of women at the top and what we can do to change this. In the section Comment , in the center of the page, we can observe various criticisms on the economic current events. Points put forward this day: the scandal of the exchange rates in banks (as HSBC whom we mentioned in breaking news), George Osbonne and the eurosceptics Project Syndicate Economists is a column dedicated to articles of Project syndicate Economists. What is the Project Syndicate? It is the syndication which publishes analyses and comments drafted by intellectuals, sientists, activists, economists, political personalities that can create a debate with an informed opinion ". The article in question is written by Nouriel Roubini, doctor in economy, president of the RGE monitor, groups of economic consultants specialized in financial analysis. Nouriel Nouribi has among others, predicts the subprime crisis. This one brings us the theory on the resumption of markets, according to him, the central banks inject too much money in the economy by buying back the national debt and they go " to create a bubble of credit and assets so important as the previous one, otherwise more. " Guardian small business network The Guardian proposes under this section, advices and ideas for companies. This advice is given by various professors who propose a subject every week. This week, the subject is how to execute a virtual office? And it is explained by Matthew Jenkin. Guardian sustainable business puts in front articles to give advice, ideas, best practice and insight from a wide range of professional communities, for give more enlightened leaders, to have healthy company . The actual subject is proposed by Christoph Burmester and the title is How behavioural design can overcome the dark side of big data.

The third column is divided in 3 parts. The first one is entitled: On business We can find here the ranking of most read articles, either the last ones published. The top 5 of these 2 rankings is appreciably the same as far as the majority of the readers read mainly last published articles. So, we find articles concerning HSBC, Mountain Warehouse, UK constructions for the last published and most read are the ones put forward in breaking news (co-op bank, Uk construction, Mocked, Ryanair).

Lastest multimedia propose several diaparomas, videos, cartoons to present news in photo. Here, that is underlined is the work of the photogrpher Moral Hazard who realized diverse pictures in London after the financial crisis of 2008. Besides, in this section, we can find the daily cartoonof Kipper Williams, cartoonist for The Guardian, its BD speaks on consumer lending figures. Poll A poll is proposed in the center left of the page. On November 4th, 2013, the poll is about Co-op Bank, the question was " Can Co-op bank retain its ethical stance now group has lost majority control? 88 % of the voters voted NOT. The guardian also proposes its selection of better purchases regarding mortgages, credit cards, loans, savings. At present the best savings has a 1,7 % rate is proposed by BM Savings. The best mortgage is represented by HSBC with a 1,69 % rate. In conclusion, The Guardian, one of the main newspapers of Great Britain proposes on its business page, several articles, update throughout the day concerning the English economy as well as the international economy. The page is extremely well studied and well done as every section proposes a link and sends us back to a page specialized or a blog of Guardian of the aforementioned section.
