My first EVS month: Im Cordula and for the next month I will live in the sweet little village

Myslibo!ice in the region Vyso"ina. Im volunteer in a house for elderly people and people with disabilities. This house is a barock castle and something like the center of the village. Besides this, there are not so many events in the village. And most of the concerts (good oportunity to get to know czech folksongs !) are also here. The work here is really nice and you meet a lot of people. The main task is to help in Ergotherapy. There are coming the elderly people and doing handcrafts or making baskets. The work is really varied, which makes it even more interesting. And you can get a lot of new ideas for yourself, too. To not get bored we have on some days in the week also the ceramic workshop, where the people are creating for example some ceramic cups. Besides this, there is a lot of time to spend it with the elderly people or the disabled people. Im going with them for a walk (in our really nice castels garden !) or Im just talking with them and exchange thoughts or were doing different things. The most important thing here is, in my oppinion, to spend some time with these people and take part in there lives. Like this, it is easier to give them a beautiful moment in the day. But we dont have just the work in the castle, we are also going to an orphanage in a neighbouring village. There we try to give the children an idea of our cultures and we help them to learn English. Of course, can we also play with them and go in the garden. Another town, where were helping is Moravsk Bud#jovice. There is a gymnasium, where we are supposed to help in a school information center. Im also helping during one German lesson. That the pupils could hear a person, who has this language as her mother tongue. All in all are the working fields quite different, but of course, the main part is in the castle. For this is the czech language very important because the nurses and elderly people are mainly speaking just Czech. A nice motivation to learn as fast as you can !. Even, this is for me a totaly new language family, so that Im very happy, that I was already before my EVS in the Czech Republik and could learn some basics, but there is still a lot of work for me !. I hope my time here will be really good and I can learn more about culture and people in my hosting country.
