NO. Series of 2013 A RESOLUTION EARNESTLY REQUESTING SECRETARY ROGELIO L. SINGSON OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AND HIGHWAYS (DPWH) FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF RIVER CONTROLS ALONG THE IKMIN RIVER AT SITIO BAKIGEN AND SITIO ULLAYAN, BARANGAY POBLACION, BOLINEY, ABRA Sponsored by: Committee on Public Works, Infrastructure and Public Utilities Hon. Timmangen WHEREAS, the swelling of the Ikmin River brought about by heavy rains have caused destruction to farmlands, agricultural crops and home lots along the river every year particularly along Barangay Poblacion, Boliney, Abra; WHEREAS, the destructive currents of the Ikmin River have eroded rice paddies at Sitio Bakigen and residential lots at Sitio Ullayan, all of Poblacion, Boliney, Abra and is now threatening to erode a portion of the Poblacion Dao-angan municipal road, a vital road network linking Barangay Poblacion, Boliney to the rest of the municipality; WHEREAS, the continuing damage cause by the Ikmin River is a growing threat to the structural integrity and safety of the Boliney National High School which lies closely next to the eroded areas at Sitio Ullayan, Poblacion, Boliney, Abra; WHEREAS, due to the foregoing, it is imperative to construct a river flood control along the Ikmin River to channel the destructive currents away from productive agricultural land, residential areas, vital road networks and educational institutions; WHEREAS, much to the desire of this local government unit to address the need to construct a river or flood control along the Ikmin River, our limited financial capability hinders the good intention; WHEREAS, the construction of such structure would entail a great amount of money, so that this Sanggunian deems it sapient to request the national government to allocate funds for the purpose; NOW THEREFORE, on motion of Hon. Generoso L. Baylon, with the unanimous accord of the members of the Sangguniang Bayan present; RESOLVED, as it is hereby resolved to earnestly request Secretary Rogelio L. Singson of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for the construction of river controls along the Ikmin River at Sitio Bakigen and Sitio Ullayan, Barangay Poblacion, Boliney, Abra. RESOLVED FINALLY, to forward copies of this resolution to DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson, for his information and appropriate action.
