Net 102 Chapter 3 Labs 3.01 Step 1: They are emulating a mesh topology.

Step 2: That you will need to install a network into each rest area. Step 3: A bus topology Step 4: Most prevalent wired topologies: Star Most prevalent wireless topologies: Point to Point Step 5: A Logical Topology is a network topology defined by signal paths instead of the physical layout of the cables while a Physical topology uses the cables for moving data. 3.02 Step 1: The grade of cable hat I would use is cable that has plenum rating. I would recommend CAT 6 type of cabling. Step 2: CAT 5e Solid Core PVC cable: $199.99 Cat 5e Plenum-Grade cable: $349.99 Cat 6 Solid Core PVC cable: $209.99 Cat 6 Plenum-Grade cable: $529.99 It would cost $5,829 Step 3: I would recommend a CAT6 Solid Core PVC cable Step 4: Multimode duplex 2-fiber-optic cable: $6,190 Single-mode 6-fiber-optic cable: $6,180 Single-mode 12-fiber-optic cable: $17,535 I would recommend the single-mode 12fiber-optic cable. Step 5:

CAT Rating Cat3 Cat5 Cat6

Max Frequency 16MHz 100MHz 250MHz

Max Bandwidth 16Mbps 1000Mbps 10000Mbps

3.03 Step 1: The International Organization for Standardization or ISO is the worlds largest developer of voluntary international standards. ISO give state of the art specifications for products, services and good practice, helping to make industry more efficient and effective. ISO started in 1946 at the Institute of Civil Engineers in London but it wasnt until 1947 were they began operations. Since then they have published over 19,500 IS standards covering almost all aspects of technology and manufacturing. Step 2: The American National Standards Institute or the ANSI oversees the creation, promulgation and use of thousands of norms and guidelines that directly impact businesses in nearly every sector from acoustical devices to construction equipment, to dairy and livestock production and energy distribution. It was founded on October 19th, 1918 and it has two locations with one in Washington D.C. and New York City. Step 3: The Telecommunications Industry Association or TIA was founded in 1924 as a small group of suppliers to independent telephone companies. Now is it the leading trade association representing the global information and communications technology industry. The Electronic Industries Alliance or the EIA has ceased all operations in February of 2011 and it is now managed by the Electronic Components Association or the ECA. The ECA represents designers, manufacturers and suppliers of passive and electromechanically electronic components, connectors, wire and cable, component arrays and assemblies, and materials and support services. Step 4: The IEEE is an association dedicated to advancing innovation and technological excellence for the benefit of humanity. IEEE was founded in 1884 by a small group of electrical professions in New York. They formed the new organization to support other professionals in their field and to aid them in their efforts. Some notable members include Thomas Edison and Alexander Graham Bell. 3.04 Step 1:

Step 2: It is important because it can prevent problems with trying cover and certain area with a network and other safety hazards, such as fire, as well. Step 3:

1. This is a mesh topology with five computers. You need at least 10 connections. The formula for this is: y(y-1)/2.

2. A star-bus topology combines both a star and bus topology by first shirking down a bus topology into a small box. Physically, it looks like a star topology but it runs like a bus topology. 3. You would you plenum rated cables because they proved more protection from fires and most city ordinances require them. 4. The most common types and speed of UTP cabling are CAT 3(16Mbps), CAT5e (1000Mbps), and CAT6 (10000Mbps). 5. IEEE 802.3 Key Terms 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.
