Important E-ticket passenger is permitted in the train against a berth/seat only when his name appears in the reservation chart failing which he can be treated as a passenger travelling without ticket The ERS/VRM/SMS sent by IRCTC along with the ID proof in original would be verified by TTE with the name and PNR on the chart. If the passenger fail to produce/display ERS/VRM/SMS sent by IRCTC due to any eventuality (loss, damaged mobile/laptop etc.) but has the prescribed original proof of identity, a penalty of Rs.50/- per ticket as applicable to such cases will be levied. The ticket checking staff On board/ Off board will give Excess Fare Ticket for the same. E-ticket cancellations are permitted through www.irctc.co.in by the user. In case e-ticket is booked through an agent, please contact respective agent for cancellations. For Tatkal e-Tickets The provision for specifying ID proof at the time of booking a Tatkal e-ticket has been started w.e.f. 21-11-2011. During the journey, at least one passenger, whose identity card number has been indicated on the ticket, will have to produce original proof of identity indicated on the ticket, failing which all the passengers booked on the ticket shall be treated as travelling without ticket and charged accordingly. No refund will be granted on cancellation of confirmed Tatkal tickets. For Dynamic Fare Pricing Train Cancellation is not allowed. However, ticket can be cancelled and full refund is admissible if the train is cancelled by Indian Railways. For any reason, if berth cannot be given to passenger by Indian Railways on booked PNR, full refund shall be granted to the passenger through TDR. For cancellation and Refund Passenger should access the website www.irctc.co.in only for cancellation as no cancellation is permitted at railway counters for electronic tickets. Please note that the accommodation booked is not transferable and is valid only if one of the passenger booked on an e-ticket presents any of the identity cards(Voter identity card/Passport/Pan card/Driving license/Photo Id card issued by Central/State Government which are having serial number/Student ID card/Nationalized Bank Passbook/Credit cards issued by banks/ Unique Identification Card "Aadhaar") during train journey in original and same will be accepted as proof of identity failing which the passengers will be treated as travelling without ticket and shall be dealt with as per extant Railway Rules. Ration card will be accepted as proof of identity for undertaking journey under Tatkal scheme only if the passenger whose photograph is available on the ration card is travelling.
