The Vira Sadhana

As is the competency of the sadhaka (male practitioner) so also that of the sadhika (female practitioner). Only by this is success achieved & not in any other way, even in ten million years - Mahakalasamhita, quoted in hakti & hakta, !oodroffe. (This English translation of chapter 13 from the Brihad-Nila-Tantra covers meditation & the vira-sadhana (heroic worship, which includes sexual intercourse) of Maha ali! "t also outlines the principles of svecchachar#a (the path of acting acc$to one%s will) which is central to the &aula school of tantra!) 'ri (hairava said$ )ow " spea of the supreme mantra of Mahakali, *estowing all poes#! +isten attentivel#, , Maheshani! 'he is the primordial one, -ra riti, the *eautiful woman, the primordial nower, with alas, the .ourth, the ultimate mother, the *oon giver, the desira*le one, the lad# of heroes, the giver of success to sadha as! 'he, the primordial one, Mahapra riti, &ali, the true form of time, whose great mantra of all mantras is the ocean of mantra, she alone gives all success to a sadha a who wants it! The destro#er of anxiet#, giving *oons, seated on a corpse, gives all desires, , /evi, & creates all marvels! "n this matter, purification of mind & determination as to defects or enmit# in a mantra are unnecessar#! In sadhana with this great mantra, there are no restrictions as to time, nor day, lunar mansion or obstacles caused by lunar

mansions & so forth. Nor in Mahakali s sadhana is it necessary to consider guru. +isten, 0araroha, to the all-poes# *estowing mantra! !-"rims & !-"ums, followed by #-$rims & %akshine $alike, then pronouncing the pre&ious bi'a mantras in re&erse order, putting in front of it (m & )&aha last, is the mantra of !#-syllables, the ultimatel# *eautiful mantra! 1sing this ing of mantras causes a person to *ecome li e 'hiva, there is no dou*t of it! Bhaira&a is the rishi of the mantra, *shnik is the metre, Mahakali is the /evi & "rim is the seed! "um is the 'ha ti & its application is well nown! 0ararohe, listen to the meditation! 2eciting it gives siddhi, its practice gives the power of attraction, & it causes pashus to *ecome viras! " worship the greatl# *eautiful one, with lim*s the colour of thunder clouds, who is na ed & sits on the corpse of 'hiva, who has 33-e#es & earrings made of the *ones of two #oung handsome *o#s, who is garlanded with s ulls & flowers! "n her lower left & upper right hands she holds a man%s head & a sword, her other two hands *estowing *oons & *anishing fear! 4er hair is greatl# dishevelled! 1sing this meditation, worship & satisf# the -aramesvari! +isten, *eauteous one, to the 5a#atri, which gives all nowledge when recited! )aying $alikayai & &idmahe, then say shmashana&asinyai dhimahi, & then tanno ghore pracodayat. %e&i, after reciting it !+-times, it is the gi&er of all prosperity! 2ecite it 63,333 times to achieve success in its preparation! /o homa of a tenth part, o*lation of a tenth part of that, & a*hise a of a tenth part of that! Then feed (rahmanas! /o ever#thing necessar# within the sadhana, then dismiss /evi & throw the pot into water! " spea now of the great ritual which *estows *oth the visi*le & the invisi*le! Mantras *ecome successful using this rite, which is to *e performed in the first or third watch at night, & are powerless otherwise! , Mahesvari, do vira sadhana in a house, or elsewhere on earth! Ma e a small platform strewn with *unches of plantain leaves & place on this a pot smeared with vermilion! "n the pot place mango shoots & wine made of hadira *lossoms, as well as asvattha & *adari leaves! 7lso place in the pot pearl, gold, silver, coral & cr#stal & then strive to accomplish vira sadhana! /raw a matri a ca ra, placing the pot on top of it! 7 mantrin should put it on a cloth, facing the northern direction! 7fter worshipping with various su*stances, one should offer food, unguent, mutton & the most attractive sorts of food! Then, , /evi, offer curd to the great goddess! 4ave there a #oung & *eautiful girl, adorned with various 8ewels! 7fter com*ing her hair, give her tam*ula & draw +!-"rims on her breasts, ,im on or near

her mouth, & draw +!-$lims on either side of her yoni. %rawing her towards you by her hair, caress her breasts & then place the linga into her yoni pot. , pure smiling one! 2ecite the mantra 1,333 times, , sweet faced one! /earest, one *ecomes accomplished *# doing the rite for a wee ! Maheshani, recite the mantra not in the manner written of in books, but in her yoni ! This *rings mantra siddhi, there is no dou*t of it! 'o, /evi, the secret thing giving all desires has *een declared to #ou! ,ne should not reveal it, one should never reveal it, Maheshani! , )aganandini, at the ris of #our life, never reveal it! "t is the giver of all siddhi! " cannot spea of the magnificence of this mantra! 4ad " ten thousand million mouths & ten thousand million tongues, " could still not spea of it, , -aramesvari! "t is the most secret thing in the 33-worlds, ver# hard to o*tain, the great pitha &amarupa, giving the fruit of all desires! Maheshani, reciting in this wa# gives endless fruit, if, *# the power of good fortune one attains this pitha! , Maheshani, after reciting the mantra there, it gives endless fruit! Bhaira&i, siddhi resides in that high place (descri*ed in) this tantra, without dou*t!
