) 30 Oct 2012 APA Module It is important to cite information because it allows to reader to understand that the author retrieved and or gathered his/her information from a specific source. Not only is the author providing credit from where he/she got the information from, but also the author is indirectly communicating to the reader that they (the author) did their research. This subsequently establishes the authors credibility as a writer. A citation is required whenever an author quotes/paraphrases the data/conclusions/findings of someone elses work no matter the source. By providing citations, the reader is also able to conduct fact checking. Moreover, the reader can locate the original work that the author used. Part I.3 A.
