(April 2009) Given the sequence : 10, 8, 6 , -24. Calculate i) the number of terms in the sequence (n = 18) ii) the sum of the sequence. (-126)

2)

(Oct 2010) i) The third term and the sixth term of an arithmetic sequence are 24 and 60 respectively. Find the common difference and the first term. ( ) ii) The fifth term of a geometric sequence is 252 and the common ratio is 0.5. Find the first term and the sum of the first ten terms. ( ) (Oct 2007) In a drawing contest, all 16 participants will be given cash prizes as follows: RM725 for the first winner, RM695 for the second winner, RM665 for the third winner, and so on. Calculate the total amount of money awarded to all the participants. (RM8 000) (April 2011) a) Given the third term of an arithmetic sequence less than the fourth term by three. The seventh term is two times the fifth term. Find the common different and the first term. ( ) b) Given a sequence: i) What is the type of sequence? (Geometric sequence) ii) Find the number of terms. (n = 11) iii) Find the sum of all terms in the sequence. (-3.9804)

(Mac 2012) Aimran rents a Shop on the first floor, Chua chooses the second floor and Nadia prefers the third floor in a Shopping mall. They pay rents RM5700, RM5200, and RM4700 respectively each month. i) Find the monthly rental of the sixth floor, if the sequence of the rent amounts maintained. (RM3 200) ii) How many floors are there in the Shopping mall if an owner of a shop of the highest floor has to pay RM700 per month? (n = 11) iii) If another businessman wants to rent a shop in the mall, and he sets that the monthly rental should not be more than RM3000 each month, which floor(s) should he choose? (n 7) (April 2010) a) In a geometric sequence, the seventh term exceeds the fifth term by 1,920. Find the sum of the first eleven terms if the common ratio of the sequence is 2. (81 880) b) The first term in an arithmetic sequence is -5 and the last term is 40.
