As it premieres in the Pearl of the Orient, we are proud to celebrate this global festival brand that challenges the conventions of one-act drama through the brevity of ten-minute plays. Short + Sweet is an Australian theatrical initiative that has grown into an international creative brand - presenting Theatre, Dance and Music Festivals, all made up of works that last for just 10 minutes or less! Short + Sweet Manila 2014 is composed of established, emerging and aspiring actors, playwrights, directors, choreographers, composers, and musicians. The stage had a black background with white lighting .The concept was minimalistic there were neither sets nor big fancy costumes. The only props were: a cordon similar to the ones found in luxurious bars and fancy restaurants, a table shaped like a stone with a laptop and an iPhone on top of it. Their lighting was avant-garde and dramatic. The angel costume of St. Luke looked simple yet was charming. The costume of the old woman was a dress. The timing of the lights to the characters actions was synchronized. I have to mention that there was a certain point near the end of the play the sound was somehow delayed or the movement of the actor was early. There was no music pieces played. This about a story about an old woman who died and went to heaven. She was greeted by St. Luke, she had many question regarding her demise. She was informed that she had a heart attack after seeing her childhood crush inside her favorite coffee shop. She was also briefed that her appearance for eternity was her appearance when she died (61 years old appearance). She tried to bargain the angel to make her look younger (23, 33 then 50) but the angel said no. Then God called the angel thru his iPhone and told him the old lady can choose any age but will forget her latter memories. She asked if she can choose her age when her crush will die which the angel

denied but she replied that God said any day. God called again the angel to allow the lady to live again. She just fainted and found herself in the arms of Ed. The Invincible This play also had minimal props and a black background. The props were alcoholic drinks, turn tables and bar tables. The lighting was mostly dark and strobe lights with a purple shade. The costumes of the men were long sleeves and the costume of the woman was a wedding dress. The opening of the play was 2 men at the DJs booth .The first man was playing music and the other one was drinking vodka. A lady in a wedding dress came in. The guy tried to talk to her but she turned him down. He asked why she turned him down, she explained that she is cursed that all of her boyfriend die. The guy told her that he tried to kill himself 12 times. They decided that they should kiss to break the curse. After kissing each other torridly the boy collapsed then died then the girl. The DJ cried and tried in vain to resuscitate the man but failed. The girl cried because the spell wasnt broken. Pordaboys The setting also had no extravagant props. The props were 2 chairs and a table full of alcoholic beverages. The character wore plain maong pants and loose shirts. The setting was similar to men drinking on the streets. The lighting was dark and yellow lights were utilized. This story is very dramatic and realistic. Before the 1st scene a song about sex and drinking was played. The opening scene was 2 men drinking alcohol. The older man complained about his how his married life. The younger man told him that his wife is almost 9 months pregnant. The older man explained that his children disrespect him and his wife is getting bad at sex. The younger man berates him that this is due to being hot-headed and because he has many mistresses. The younger man told him that being manly and aggressive was pass and the current trend is being soft and gentle to you family. The older man drinks a huge amount of alcohol then strangles the younger one. The wife of the older man comes to separate them. The older man assaulted his wife but was killed by his younger friend. The younger friend calms down the wife and gropes her boobs while telling her Alam ko kung ano ang gusto mo at ibibgay ko yun sayo. After saying that he undressed the wife and her boobs were exposed leaving the audiences astound mainly the male audience.
